Description Though he would normally be out for a run, today Sonic was helping Tail to put the final touches on his newest invention. As he carried over the next component for Tails to install, Sonic asked "So, Tails...What exactly is this thing?"

He was referring, of course, to the large ray-gun looking device they were constructing. It stood nearly fifteen feet tall and had a complex looking control board. Though uncompleted, it looked rather menacing to be one of Tails's inventions.

"Well... it's a bit complex." Tails replied as he began to attach the part Sonic had just given him. "Would you like the short version or the long version of it?"

"Eh, long version, why not?" Sonic replied with a shrug.

Tails stopped working for a minute so he could explain, pointing to each part as he mentioned it.
"Well, this dial here alters the gravimetric variance around a selected area of space. Once I fine tune it to a certain frequency, I then activate this lever which turns on the bio-mimetic gel generator. Then I input the commands to this screen here, and activate the central flux magnetron. After that, this bit extracts the bio-mimetic gel, analyzes it, and encodes it with specific bio-tronic codes. All the gel then gets shot down this main barrel here, where it reassembles itself at the nano-cellural level in the areas with the altered gravimetric variance, where..."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa!" Sonic interrupted, "That's enough Tails, I think I get it. Or, at least I get that there's no way I'm ever gonna understand all that."

"Well you did ask for the long version" Tails commented with a chuckle, going back to work on his machine.

-------------------

Outside, unknown to the fox and hedgehog within, a small object was flying towards the wall of Tails' workshop. It flew chaotically, zigging and zagging across the road like a drunk. Eventually though, it reached the wall. Sensing that the target was within the required distance, its little feet anchored themselves to the wall as it prepared the firing sequence. As it was damaged, this took it a minute. Several sparks jumped between broken circuits and made connections they were never meant to. It sensed at least four other sentient bio-signs within the area of effect, but ignored them as it was programmed to. Finally, the sparks died down and the ten second countdown to detonation began.
