This is a tale of what might have been. Pluck a string at the right place at the right time, and events we are all familiar with might unfold completely different.

It's Stardate 3141.9. The USS Enterprise, having sustained damage in her involvement in the Eminiar-Vendikar war, is being repaired at Starbase 17. Unbeknownst to Captain Kirk, something is happening deep within the Mutara sector. Where his ship should have patrolled, a Klingon battlecruiser is now flying a covert exploratory mission. The battlecruiser, the IKS Hurgh be'nI', under the command of Captain Chang, picks up faint signals of some old derelict spacecraft. As we all know, some bored Klingons would just shoot it for some fun. But not Chang, no. This man is a curious mind, his curiosity only outmatched by his cruelty. He orders a boarding party to investigate the derelict, leading the party himself. What, or should we say, who, he finds there, will result in an alliance that will tear the world as we know it asunder...
