Janis Joplin is one of the most of popular musicians of the blues, psychedelic and acid rock era, mainly because of the energy she brings to the stage. She was one of the main attractions
in big music fests like Monterey Pop and Woodstock. Her sound is quite similar to Jimi Hendrix's and toured together at some point.
What I really love about Janis is her hippie-ness lol I enjoyed watching / listening to her interviews as I drew this piece, very vibrant and free spirit!
This will be featured as part of my "27 Club" theme for the "Young Guns of Print" show at Hero Complex Gallery this Friday, September 8, 2013.

Amazing work. I love your use of color here. Even though there are a lot of them, they are subdued tones that don't fight and clash for dominance, allowing the eye to focus on the wonderful bead-work on her wrist. Great composition and stye too.
