My definition of a photograph is a result of the emotional reaction to the scene in front of my camera. I love the abstraction from reality that monochrome affords me. To me there is no difference between a photograph and a panting, the former works in pixels the latter in brush strokes, both are a form of communication.# Comments

Mike - thank you very much for all the time and effort to review those latest shots of mine. I've got a way to go on the LX5, and your experience has helped me figure some points I had not appreciated. "Another Place" was an exercise in making the most of time, light and tide, but as my friend Richard says - we have to go back - make use of what we learned the first time.

a tough call, Mike. With the age of the 'baby boomas and coocoonuts', it is not easy to teach children this thing called 'culture'. Example; I teach my child that, in our 'culture', a child accepts with two hands anything an adult gives him/her - even if it be a feather or a pen. He goes to school and the teacher tells him/her that, it is stupidity to accept an itme with two hands because it is not heavy.
The child gets confused!
