Description The Grevy's Zebras are so beautiful! Those stripes are so hypnotizing.
Unfortunately, that is the reason why they are endangered. Poachers want their pelts as rugs or wall decor. It's really sad.
Luckily they are protected here at Lewa Conservancy!

Boy, if it's one thing I'll never draw, it's a Grevy's Zebra... SO. MANY. STRIPES. They were always my least-favorite out of the zebra species just because I didn't like how all those skinny stripes looked, so it's funny to me that everybody else likes them so much, they want to poach them.
Is that a ventral stripe on its belly, or is that a shadow?
I notice that they also have shorter tails with more white/less stripeage (and a dorsal stripe that goes down the tail, how cool!) - is that something that's normal for the species, or is it just for this one?

I think that might be just a shadow.
All members of this species have the dorsal stripe on their backs.
Well, I still think their beautiful. Are you saying that you don't like they way they look because it would take a long time to draw those stripes? I'd say it would be an interesting personal challenge if you tried!
You could help promote conservation with it.

Yeah, their stripes also don't look as cool to me because I think the thick black stripes look better.

That's actually a great art challenge ! I've always wanted to somehow tie conservation and art together, but I'm still not sure how to do it yet. :S

Yes, indeed! Actually, the Grevy's Zebras are more like Donkeys or mules, while the Burchel's/Grant's Zebras are more like Ponies.

Wait, really? Can you explain? Sorry, I'm not trying to be creepy LOL! I just saw this when I was going to scroll down to add my own comment.

It's not creepy at all!
Just the general shape of each species, resembles their equine relatives. Like with the Grevy's Zebras, they have round looking ears similar to that of Mules or Donkeys, while the Grant's have more of a pony shape to them. Different variants they are.
