A girl stared out into the dark night. The darkest night that she had seen in her short, thirteen year old life. She could hear them. Snuffling about in the streets. They moaned in triumph when they found a hiding kid. Then, the screaming would start. The horrible yelps of pain, the shrieks of terror, it was the same every night for the past two weeks. It all started with the 'Scared Kid,' youtube disappeared shortly afterwards, then life as she knew it disappeared. Her mum attacked her when she was washing dishes. She wanted to surprise her by washing the dishes her older brother had been supposed to wash days before. Her mum ended up surprising her instead. She had cried out, blindsided by her mother's attack. She accidentally said, "Bloody hell!" she had thought her mum would get on her about that. She wished she would have been able to. She wished her brother still was able to whack her arm and call her a "little bugger." Her brother had turned next. He had come lumbering out of his cave of a room and attacked her. She had barely gotten away; she thought that the adrenaline pumping through her veins had helped. She also thought that maybe God had a plan for her. She was hiding in an old office building. Near the tower of London. It was close to her family's old flat, her mum had actually worked there. The kids had scrambled. They had run in terror, trying to keep their parents from killing them, then eating their fleshy insides. She had always been fascinated in zombies, so she knew immediately that these weren't zombies. She didn't have much of a name for them. She guessed that she could refer to them as 'the demons.' They were evil. Yes. Evil. Villains. Demons. She would have to fight her way out of this portion of the city. It was crawling with the demons. They scratched at doors at night, came in mobs, and took down the smaller ones.
She had seen seventy eight kids get swarmed. She kept track in her old leather bound diary. The first day, she had seen thirty of them die. All of them from her apartment complex, because, after all, she did live in a fairly large building. She saw less and less children every day. She guessed that some kids escaped, because, otherwise, the demons would have decided to come after her. She had only been attacked by her mum and brother; no other demons could get their hands on her. She was fast. She was glad that her brother had forced her to join the schools running team. She didn't know what she could use as a weapon. She didn't know who she could trust. Her friends all died. Two weeks ago, that would have made her break down in sobs, now, she stopped feeling. She didn't know that the hardened apocalypse emotions came so fast. If she was going to leave, she would need to get under the cover of thick clothing, despite the residual warmth in the air. She looked through her old duffel, she pulled out a flannel long sleeved shirt, a pair of thick jeans, a pair of pretty old leather cow girl boots, a pair of aviator sunglasses, and a dark red bandana. She changed, putting on her sunglasses, the clothing, with the boots going over the jeans; her bandana was wrapped over her nose and mouth. Her pale skin barely peeped out after she found a pair of leather gloves. She pulled her mousy brown hair into a high ponytail. She looked around the office and found an old golf club.

She changed, putting on her sunglasses, the clothing, with the boots going over the jeans; her bandana was wrapped over her nose and mouth. Her pale skin barely peeped out after she found a pair of leather gloves. She pulled her mousy brown hair into a high ponytail. She looked around the office and found an old golf club.
