Wow this looks great! That was a creative idea with the London Eye really! ^^ And I love how Lina is using Pokota as the ball XDDDD
Good luck with the contest! ^^ /even though we're rivals *shot* lol Really this was well done!

I guess my excuse is that, the more trouble and anguish they're put through during the story, the sweeter the inevitable happy ending will be... (pretty much like it's discussed at the end of the novel The Count of Monte Cristo- "He who has felt the deepest grief is best able to experience supreme happiness.")
...er, or that's my excuse. Maybe I'm just an awful person; haha... XD
Oh, th-thank you so much! I'm surprised I'm still doing the comic, since I started it on a whim one day... but it's actually really fun. Plus I like pen-and-ink drawing the best. Having to color things annoys me...
Hey, I thought your oneshot was great! It had an interesting scenario, was funny (haha; I love the thought of Gourry being bribed with food. He's so adorable...), and wrapped up with an amusing twist at the end! That's something I'd have trouble doing in that many words!
Though, I know what you mean. I'm almost OCD about my chapter lengths- if it's shorter than 3000 words, or longer than 4000 words, I get all upset over it... in the one I'm working on right now, most of the chapters have wrapped up in about 2500 words, which annoys me to no end...
And your artwork is way better than mine was when I started drawing- plus you're really good at conveying emotions. You portray the expressions so well! Do keep practicing a lot! ^_^

I don't have a decent excuse like that, so I must be worse XD My only excuse is the more I have them overcome I feel it develops their character depth better, as it shows what they went through... That and I tend to find it far too much fun to torment characters like Lina blowing Xelloss to hell and back I tend to enjoy faaaarrr too much
You're welcome and I know how that is, my Slayers Fanfiction The Soul Touch I also started on a whim 4 months ago with a free write, and it's already 37 chapters long with a spin off in the works. It just happens sometimes lol Yeah coloring things tend to be tedious, this is why I only color certain works myself as it takes so long to do lol
Thanks you! (It just struck me as something Gourry would do plus tick Lina off that he's working with NAGA of all people XD)
Thanks for that! ^^ I've usually stayed away from drawing humans for the longest time as they usually came out really bad, but one day I started drawing Xelloss and he came out ok so from there I decided to give Lina a try so I could illustrate my story better. And I will keep practicing as I do in my free time lol I actually had put down drawing 3 years ago due to lack of inspiration, yet picking it back up and trying out with Slayers characters this time around seems to be helping me improve ^^

Yeah, exactly. Good character development- that's a valid excuse. (I think we all just enjoy seeing Lina blast other characters. I love to have her bicker with Pokota, haha. XD)
Wow, that's awesome! I guess, when you are working on something and you feel like it's good and something worthwhile to do (especially if you have nice people encouraging you), then it's easier to continue. Keep up the great work with your fanfiction! ^_^
And yeah, it does take a long time... maybe that's why I don't like it. Or, maybe, I like pen or pencil better because you don't have to switch between different colored pencils/markers/pastels/etc. You can just use one pen/pencil for all the shading, and it looks just fine. I'm really lazy.
I love imagining how Naga would interact with the rest of the cast. She's so funny; I bet she'd create a lot of problems like that!
Wow, that's amazing! (I'm glad that you've picked up drawing again- it's great to be able to see improvement!) I began drawing for the sole purpose of illustrating my fanfictions (when I was little, I used to make up a bunch for Pokemon and Cardcaptor Sakura, though I never wrote them down. I just drew the characters.) Though, I was really, really bad, of couse. I just had to practice... a lot.. haha.

The characters all look adorable!
You did an excellent job on the London eye, I like how you did the reflections of light off of the glass.
Is Amelia participating in volleyball or gymnastics or....?

Oh wow, thank you so much!! I was using some of my grandfather's vacation photos for reference, and the glass on the cars was really reflective... XD
Amelia is... I wasn't sure what to give her, so I modeled her pose after the pictogram for boxing, with her affinity for fighting with the Visfarank (or however that thing is spelled) spell. But... my scanner whited out the color around her fists, so you can barely see it now. *sigh*

You're welcome!
I'm awful about taking photos on vacation, I think the only picture I have of the London Eye is of my feet inside one of the capsules...
I suppose boxing makes much more sense for Amelia than gymnastics! XD
And, ugh, I understand the frustration with scanners... mine regularly can't pick up differences in colors but it can pick up a thousand dust motes...

I took three hundred pictures in Machu Picchu, half of the total number of pictures for my entire time in Peru... the majority of them were just of rocks and rock walls and the sky....
Scanners, ugh... I hate that my scanner is just a little too small to get the entirety of one page of the kind of watercolor paper I use...

Wow, that's a lot of pictures! (That's so cool! I really want to visit Machu Picchu someday and hike the Inca Trail!!) But, yeah, that's a lot of what I take pictures of too. And then I'll take pictures of little things like interesting signposts or things at the airport. Then I'll go back, and wonder 'why in the world did I take this picture?' Haha...
Ugh, mine is like that as well. To scan this, I had to draw it on two seperate sheets of sketchbook paper and scan them seperately, then put it together on the computer. (Kind of like what you did with the layers on your watercolor, I think. Right?)
Of course, I ran into a problem with the papers, because I forgot that Martina, Xellos, and the Olympic rings would be taped right over the page break, so I had to cut down the edges of the pages to fit them in the scanner... I'm just glad it worked. DX

Most of the pictures did not turn out well. u_u;;;;
(Machu Picchu is interesting enough, but don't go on a busy day... I made the mistake of going on 11/11/11 and the place was swamped with people running around barefoot, in robes, standing in circles around crystals, sitting and smacking themselves in the face, and all manner of other behavior that's probably a little reduced on other days.... they said it was because they had to direct the energy gathered there on that day etc.... at least there were llamas around to stare at...)
And, yes.... I have a picture of the plane I rode in but nothing of the giant otters and only low quality video of the jaguar I saw.... -_-
I used to be able to go to the campus library and use their giant scanner for free... Kinkos and the other copy places around town were way expense. But, yeah, this time around I painted several separate pictures and scanned them and put them together as layers...
I'm glad that your scanning method worked for you! ^^ It turned out nicely.

(Ouch! That sounds crazy, with all of the people. I'd want to go for some peace and quiet, so that would probably feel like it was defeating the whole purpose of my trip; haha. Still, it sounds pretty cool to see all of that, though. I hear that it's supposed to be a really mystical place, so I guess it's not surprising.)
Ah... same here. I tried to get wildlife pictures, but the marine otters are just dots, the puffins are blurry, and the harbor seals look like little sausages on the rocks. Haha...
I guess I feel lucky just to have my own scanner- I got it for Christmas from my parents a few years back, and, despite the color issues, it's really quite convenient to use.
That's really amazing that you were able to combine all the layers like that- and to turn out so well, too! I couldn't even tell that they were seperate pictures; it just all fits together so perfectly. (I'm not skilled enough in Photoshop for something like that yet. I just used MS Paint to put mine together. Nothing fancy at all. XD)

There are lots of other Incan ruins around Peru, Machu Picchu is just one of the largest and most popular and easiest to access (according to one coworker, there's loads of stuff on the Incan trail that's much cooler because it's less crowded and there is the quiet...). If you do do Machu, early morning is a good time to get there because the crowd is slightly reduced and, since it's cloud forest habitat, it does look kind of mystical. (I'm sorry, I'm really rambling at you about this, huh? It is good fun, and I recommend going if you can)
My best wildlife photos are of insects and spiders... u_u;;;; I am not destined to becoming a National Geographic photographer.
Scanners are useful ^^
Araaah, I'm not that great with photoshop, getting each separate character in was a bit easier since I tend to use dark ink outlines which makes it easier to decide where the character begins and ends and I could erase the backgrounds around the characters so that it was just the character getting put into the picture.... (Also, I started very big and shrank it down a bit for a final piece....)

That sounds amazing~! (Don't worry about rambling- I love to travel, and I love to hear about other people's travels, especially information that's helpful. It makes me want to go there right now!! ...of course, I probably won't be there very soon, but I'll get there eventually. I have this thing about hiking in various mountain ranges around the world because I love to hike and I love mountains... so the Andes are on my bucket list. ^_^)
I think insects are my favorite thing to photograph- I have this weird obsession with taking insect photographs, so I have a bunch of those. Most come out fuzzy though, because I have a hard time focusing, but I have a lot of bees on flowers... I don't know why, but it's something about getting a good photograph of something so small that's really rewarding. That's pretty cool!
Oh, most certainly! I was actually talking to my grandmother today about some sketches I'd done, and she asked me "What would you do without a scanner?" XD
Ah, I see. (Dark outlines always help.) That's still a lot of work, though, so I really admire all your effort. It really paid off.
(CONGRATS ON THE CONTEST, BY THE WAY!! !!)

I love to travel too, though I'm definitely more inclined to go to places where I can stay and chase birds around for at least a month or four.... And I'm pretty enamored with Latin America. I hope that you'll manage to get to the Andes, I was only there briefly, but they had giant hummingbirds and Highland motmots and a couple of other neat species! I didn't have the time to learn Quechua, but it would've been fun to see if that would've been useful...
I would LIKE to be able to take pictures of birds, but unless they're tiny little nestlings, they move a little too quickly for the likes of me... I'm very good at getting blurry pictures, though a sibling has me beat with a blurry picture of a rock
^^ Thanks! It was fun for me because it had been a long time since I'd done anything...
(Congrats to you too! now I'm excited that there'll be another contest soon and I look forward to seeing what you'll make! ^^)

I've been working and trying to work as a field assistant on ornithology projects wherever I can, yup! (So you're keen on microbes? Or are genetics and cell bio more your thing? And I'm sure knowing Spanish will help a lot in Latin America, I wish I'd taken classes!)
Oh, gulls, there's so many species but, I'm afraid, I really haven't put enough work into being able to identify all of them... u_u; It's cool that you got to go to Alaska, I want to try to get there someday, but I don't know if I'd be able to last up there in the winter... I'm pretty big on sunshine.
I do hope they'll come up with a ridiculously silly contest theme some time, but that's probably because I have a really hard time trying to draw anything remotely serious....

Oh wow! That sounds amazing! (Travelling to various places to study birds; that seems like a dream job, at least for me!)
And, yeah, I'm really interested in microbes and their role in the environment; especially things that are on the edge of what we consider life, like extremophile bacteria, and viruses, and such... I'm still trying to decide whether that or geology is my thing; I love rocks with a passion, haha...
I have trouble differenciating too. I've pretty much grown up on the beach, and, as a kid, they were all just seagulls, no matter what. Some had different-colored heads, and different colored plumage, etc... but they were all 'seagulls.' I later came to find that there was no such thing as a "seagull," and that all gulls have proper names, but I still just refer to them all as seagulls. XD
I wouldn't last there in the winter either. I was cold in the summer! (Being from far south, where it's never really 'cold' doesn't exactly help...) But the landscape and the wildlife are just so gorgeous; I hope I get to go back someday. It's a great experience.
Haha, I love drawing silly things. (Earlier today, I doodled a pair of penguins in tutus, because of a conversation my friends and I had while playing charades...) It would be so much fun to have a ridiculous contest theme!

Microbes or geology... or maybe combine the two with microbial paleontology! (I'm not sure if that'd work, I mean, the Jehol fossil beds are amazing and impressive, but I don't know if they're THAT precise...)
There's a fair amount of work to be done with seabirds, but if I went for it, I'd probably avoid the gulls and go for the boobies just for the sheer joy of how awkward it would be to explain myself... (but at least they aren't great tits... birds have the most ridiculous common names sometimes....)
Traveling is fun, I've spent so much time in the jungle that now that i"m in the desert I'm not used to being able to see for so far! XD
(Silly doodles are the best. Yes, serious pictures can be impressive, but it's the silly things that I go back to...)

I've become excited recently while studying the many ways to combine the two! (I actually read the term "geomicrobiology" in a magazine from a college where my mom's best friend is a professor. One of the researchers there had just begun working on a study of subsurface extremophiles... that sounds like my kind of job! Of course, microscopic fossils are important too. Ancient pollen and stuff can tell a lot about the environment... so I guess there's plenty of possibilties for combining the two. XD)
Seabirds are definitely interesting (especially the ones that live on the water and only come inland to nest!), though, you're right about the names. When studying for science olympiad last year, my partner and I allowed ourselves a few moments of immaturity to giggle over birds such as the tufted titmouse. Of course, we were also the ones at the fossils event getting a kick out of poking the coprolites with a pencil, so we weren't the most mature to begin with.
Birds are really diverse and wonderful, though!
Oh man, I agree! I live in an area with lots of forests (mostly longleaf pine), so you really can't get visibility here like you can with the desert. (Well, besides the ocean, but that's the ocean.) I really do enjoy being able to look out over an expanse and be able to see out to the horizon... especially when there's nothing for miles around.
(And for some reason, I tend to have more motivation to draw silly doodles. I guess they're just so much more fun!)
