Description

In 1870 a railway was built between Crosby and Suddery (later extending to Brendam) & with it came engines to run it, 4 0-6-0 tank engines overtime came to run the railway as well as help extend it and build the NWR later to join it in 1914 with the help of the coffee pot engines, the Midland engines and Furness Railway engines (the latter two of which were on loan).

Eventually due to new pushpull train services the engines began to be used less and less only being used if an engine was broken down.

So here's a rough sketch from ages ago of what they most likely look like

No.1 is an LNWR Special tank

No.2 was an LBSCR A1 Terrrier that got saved from scrap later on to run the Bluebell Valley branch and repainted to look like Stepney for DOWT events (meta i know) but is now an LBSCR E1 in my headcanon

No.3 is a Haydock Foundry well tank (like Bellerophon), since the W&S was an industrial line i thought it'd be fitting + i chose this basis since it looks like one of the red tank engines from a magazine story (the other one I'll talk about soon)

No.4 is basically Billy, well was, he had a wreck and then was used for parts for his replacement Charlie (built in 1914) lol

one of the red tank engines i've already made W&SR 3, the other i might make a character.

The tramway engines i'm not gonna draw, but i'm gonna say in my head canon they work with Flora who's like a mentor to the younger trams.

With minor locomotive characters, most of them are non-canon or are not seen so why bother.

Golden engine is non-canon since she only appeared in a fantasy.

magazine Miniature engines i don't really consider canon.

Thirteen I already did one of but might re-do.

Little Blue i've done one of but will definitely re-do.

Dark Green i might do.

Austerity I've kind of already done.

The blue tender engines I don't consider canon except maybe the well tank and an 0-6-0 tender engine from the 2nd RWS book.

The Marklin engine ain't really a character to me and if it was I'm not sure where it would fit in canonically.

All in all I only draw characters I consider canon unless there's a way to fit in the non-canon ones. So my definition of canon: If it's from the RWS or Awdry fam and Most parts of TVS except some one-off characters.

non canon: (most) magizine stories and the international episodes of season 22 and beyond as well whatever doesn't make sense or doesn't corelate with the RWS in the TVS.

But yes, for the most part I draw any mystery/background characters with unknown prototypes. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Absolutely love these choices, especially that Gooch gear-equipped locomotive!

appreciated my dude

as much as i like Wild nor Wester's W&S engines, it states officially they're 0-6-0s

I personally don't like his too much, not sure why, they just seem a tad too modern and LSWR-ey for somewhere near Cumbria, though that's just my opinion. Plus part of the appeal of the early RWS lore is the clunkier industrial-ish locos being put to use on a "proper" railway - Yours look spectacular!

I see, good analysis

this must be the first time someone has said my depiction of some obscure character(s) is better than a more popular Thomas/RWS fan's one

I'm pleasantly surprised, many thanks
