Absolutely splendid photograph. I've been staring at it for a few moments now, trying to figure out exactly what captures me so. The soft focus and lack of detail is amazingly done here, in my opinion. It's very soft, sensual, and almost ... I want to say mysterious, but that's not the word I'm looking for. Hm.
Maybe I'll stare at it for a few moments longer. Muaha. ^_^

So it's not historically accurate as far as old photos go. It's still great work. It's more interesting that she's showing some emotion anyway, and your manipulations are good as well. It reminds me of an old film reel that's skipping.

cool image.... ive found that if you take the negative and rub it with wool or even as extrem as concrete you get sum pretty amazing effect whrough the enlarger... but yeah you have depicted a very morose scene... the feeling almost etheral

It's wonderful, I love the subject and your treatment. I'm really wanting to see less empty space on top of the picture and more on the bottom though. The toes of the model and chair are cutoff...... The blurring and 'dirtying' up is quite wiked, though! and I like the harsh, brightly lit areas.

I like this photo for the simple reason it is not like your typical "tinprint" or sepia, it has a character all its own that I think make the viewer want to look deeper into the blurriness, to see what you are hiding

Great photograph -- is this naturally aged, or did you use some brush effects?

I appreciate your input. I understand that it may appear as though I was trying for a period image. Allow me to clarify -
I love the aged photo technique, but I wasnt going for a period piece here, otherwise I would have made sure the set dressing, clothing, hair, posture etc. reflected it. Here I was shooting something more personal, images I had in my mind that represented something to me. I personally dont believe in "should be"'s unless Im specifically categorizing a piece of art; I was going for the honest representation of what I wanted, and to have her in straight posture with covered legs would have killed that. Thanks again for your comments though, I enjoy feedback, and Ill post up the period photos Ive done sometime.

Aged photo is not simply brown colour and lots of scratches. The subjects should look as if they come from that time, too. Here, the opsture is wrong. On all the old pics I've seen, the subjects were straight as ramrods. Plus, bare legs? Hmm....
Lag.
