Anyways I am truly sorry for procrastinating a full YEAR for this.
My knowledge has definitely grown during that time so apologies for the weird decisions, like yeah I know a North Macedonian identity would prob just be full erased at that point.
Credit to my discord friend Josh for giving concepts for the Balkans, so if any of you are mad about it, blame it on him not me!
So yeah europe 1948.. Here's some notable stuff going on!

After the massive zombie plague during WW1, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands united into what eventually became a pseudo fascist state “The Fraternal States”, A federation of whats really numerous bickering cliques. Perhaps they did have genuine pan european values at first, but it has become a corrupt state of numerous blend of ultra right wing and even slightly leftist elements all trying to gain control. Organized crime groups roam the streets while the corrupt "National Councils of Fraternity" is full of charismatic politician who want to create their own messed up ideal nation. Perhaps they want syndicalist elements, perhaps revitalize pan roman ideals, perhaps they legalize all drugs, its all your my friend! Currently they're trying to have talks with the Spanish Union for a potential alliance, speaking of them..

Spain has been divided for a while, with seemingly no progress and both sides having their own alliances. The Spanish Republic is now super left wing thanks to its socialist and anarchist bent, its more confederal than federal really.

The Spanish Union on the other hand, is a cocaine-driven nightmare state where a racial hierarchy is established and pan-hispanism is the focus. Led by none other than Salvador Dali, though really the bureaucrats and militias have the control. Violent para military action is getting more common and some of the working conditions for the "none purebreds" are something close to that of slavery.

Russia still is crap and is now National Syndicalist! After the plague waned a bit, a new power took hold to replace the failing liberals and communists. The Salvation Party is a national syndicalist group that is supposedly a new solution to the "capitalist and communist traitors". Basically they turn it into a hardline fascist corporatist state with a national federation of unions that all must join for the sake of "class cooperation". If you have some silly ideas in your head, perhaps you might need some "re education" to truly be part of the greater cooperative state.

This leads to thousands of political dissidents to flee, particularly in Finland, which is now a democratic socialist state thanks in part to these leftists groups in exile. Hardline socialists/communists still exist in their own local communities.

Fully hardline socialist state do exist in the south with mainland Italy and Greece, with varying levels of stability. Italy has autonomous areas, like Tuscany or Venice, and numerous worker councils. Greece has a more authoritarian bent, with a specific worker's party that all citizens rally upon.

Turkey in this timeline is basically a fascist millitant state that is hellbent to take back what they consider "naturally turkish" lands, that's it nothing to see here folks.
