Description
My first collage with the 6th Doctor and Minerva.
I must say HIS COAT TAKES FOREVER BUT IT'S FUN.
I'd also like to share some snippets with you all about their first meeting and also a few scenes that have to do with what I drew.
Minerva’s relationship with the 6th Doctor begins at a rocky start. The 6th Doctor is not as sweet as his previous incarnation, and starts off as arrogant and erratic. The 6th Doctor even has a moment of what would appear to be madness, as he accuses Peri of being an evil alien spy, and throttles her. Minerva pulls her dagger and holds it to the Doctor’s throat, fighting the tears and agony of having to take such action against her lover. 6 immediately retreats off of Peri, and demands that Minerva remove the knife from his throat and calm herself. Minerva doesn’t know what else to do, so she quickly places her free hand on his forehead, and causes him to sleep. A technique that the 4th Doctor had taught her to use her telepathy to soothe his neural activity, if he ever became unstable such as this. And as the 6th slumps forward, Minerva catches him in her arms, and gently lowers him to the ground. She continued to hold him, stroking his face lovingly, finally letting the tears fall.
Peri has recovered by this time, and comes over to Minerva’s side. She places a hand on Minerva’s shoulder, and softly asks, “Will he be alright?”
Minerva shakes her head slightly, and whispers, “I don’t know…” in reply.
The sleep doesn’t last long, and the 6th Doctor awakes to find himself in laying in Minerva’s lap. He startles awake and asks what happened, to which Minerva sadly explains. The 6th Doctor denies it as he rises from her lap, saying he never attacks anyone unless it’s in self defense. He looks to Peri, and sees her eyes full of fear, and angrily excuses them both of exaggerating. Minerva rises to her feet and cries, “Would I lie to you?!” tears forming once more.
The 6th Doctor stares at her, surprised by her sudden outburst, but upon seeing the great sadness and fear in Minerva’s eyes, he softens and looks to her with sorrow.
“No…” he begins quietly. “You would not…”
The 6th Doctor comes over to Minerva, and raised his hand to touch her cheek. She flinches slightly, and instantly regrets that reaction, feeling the wave of sorrow from the 6th Doctor. She lifts her hand to cups his own then, and locks her eyes with his.
“Forgive me, my shimmering flower,” he whispers.
Minerva smiles sadly at him.
“It’s alright, Doctor,” she whispers in reply. “We’ve been through a rough regeneration once before, have we not?”
6 smiles sadly in return and nods.
“But this is different,” he says quietly, his smile fading and lowering his hand. He turns to Peri now, “I am a danger to both of you, and I will not allow that,” he states firmly.
Minerva is about to speak up, but she knows that in his current state, he is right. The Doctor then announces that he must become hermit on the desolate asteroid Titan III as his punishment until, he is properly humiliated. Minerva tells him that she will go with him, unwilling to leave him, even as he is now. 6 looks to her, his eyes full of sorrow, but she can feel how grateful he is that she wants to stay.
“But, we ought to try and take Peri home,” Minerva suggests, coming up beside 6, smiling a soft smile.
The 6th Doctor looks to Minerva but shakes his head dismissively.
“I fear any time I spend in this Tardis is a danger to both of you, and that I should hastily set the coordinates for Titan III,” he replies, and begins to work on the console.
Minerva knows nothing she says will change his mind at this point, sensing the resolve with her empathy, so she comes over to Peri, and takes her hand. She squeezes it gently, and smiles with the best smile of assurance she can muster. Peri smiles worriedly back at her, as they arrive on Titan III.
As it happens, the Doctor’s aid is needed on Titan III, and although he is reluctant at first to help, Minerva and Peri convince him he should. But the whole time they are on Titan, Minerva begins to wonder if she should remain with the Doctor. He does show great concern for her and Peri., but she felt she was in his way most of the time, an annoyance and a burden. She tries to feel what he was feeling towards her, but she couldn’t quite pinpoint anything. His own emotions and convictions were everywhere, most likely attributed to the unstable regeneration.
That night, as the 6th Doctor is fiddling with the console, Minerva came up beside him quietly.
“Doctor?” she asks quietly, keeping her eyes down.
“Yes, Minerva?” he replies absentmindedly, still working on the console.
“Do...do you wish me to leave?
"What?!” The Doctor looks up to her, aghast. “Why on earth would I want you to leave?!" he asks indignantly.
Minerva fights her tears as she looks up at him.
“I don’t feel I am...of any use to you anymore..” she begins, her eyes dropping once more to the ground.”I am.. in your way now. You have...moved on it seems. You are so confident in yourself, more than ever before. You used to...ask me for guidance in some things...but now I...I don’t think you need me.”
Minerva’s voice is cracking as she realizes what’s she’s saying, and how much it destroys her. She leans against the console for support, as she continues to force her sobs back down into her throat.
The 6th Doctor listens and scoffs, and is about to chastise her for being foolish, but he sees how upset she is, and stares at her for a moment in silence. He's not seen her this way before, even in past regenerations. He also realizes she is trembling now in her grief, and this makes 6 realize that she truly thinks she is a burden to him now and must leave.
He comes up beside her quietly, and places his hands gently on her pale arms.
"Minerva,” he begins, his voice soft and gentle. “I may be a different man now, a better man in my opinion, but...." his eyes show tenderness now, and love. "I would not be as good of a man as I am... if you were absent from my life."
Minerva meets his gaze, surprise mixed with immense relief. Tears stream down her golden-flushed cheeks now.
He gives her a loving smile, the first she has seen from him. He then takes her hands into his, and tenderly quotes Hamlet.
“Doubt thou the stars are fire, doubt that the sun doth move. Doubt truth to be a liar, but never doubt I love.”
Minerva, upon hearing Shakespeare quoted, knows that this man before her is still her Doctor. Shakespeare was something he showed to her, and they shared it as an intimate love language. She lets a sob out now, and beamed up at him.
“My Shimmering Flower,” the Doctor smiles in a whisper, as he brings his hands up to cup her face.
After a second or two of simply gazing into each other eyes, the 6th Doctor leans in to gently kiss Minerva. Minerva presses her lips firmly to his, and it soon becomes a passionate kiss, as if expressing to each other their love.

During an adventure on a planet called Varos, Quillam, Varos' chief scientist does experiments with his cell mutator on the prisoners of the planet, which later includes the Doctor and his companions. It changes the molecular structure of the person into an animal, mineral, or a mix of something. Whatever you become is what you wished you were at that time. Peri, Minerva, and a new friend named Areta are put in the machines as their punishment. The Doctor and a man named Jondar are sentenced to hanging, from which they escape. When the Doctor and Jondar reach the women, Peri is turning into a blue bird, and Minerva was becoming a white bird. Both had wished to fly from that present danger. As The Doctor wakes Peri and Minerva, he tells Jondar that they must tell the women who they are and remind them of their names, reversing the mental damage of the machine making them think they were animals.
The Doctor works on Peri first, knowing her mind is weaker than Minerva’s. When satisfied he has brought her back, he comes to Minerva, stroked her head and trying to keep her drooping head upright to look at him. Minerva is groggy and asks him who he is.
“I am the Doctor,” he replies firmly, but lovingly. “And you are Minerva, High Healer of the Vestales. My light, my love, and my shimmering flower. You have been with me for 300 years and our love transcends time.”
As Minerva heard his words, she began to glow with a golden light, as her memories returned to her, and as she remembered her love for him.
“D-Doctor? M-my love?” she weakly uttered, as she locked her eyes with his.
The 6th Doctor smiled brightly and nodded, stroking her face lovingly.
“Yes, Minerva. Yes, my darling! I am the Doctor, your Doctor.” he replies tenderly.
Minerva smiles weakly, and the Doctor helps her to her feet to escape.
