That's great ! I like Jaja, it fits. It's really good she's already getting used to humans. We've actually been taking care of a little colt at the farm where I volunteer/work, who's a Raquin RA grandson. His mom rejected him, and in the process of doing so, apparently fractured his hip joint. Aside from bottle feeding of course, we've had to give him injections in the joint and drain off the excess fluid. He's been such a sweetie for all of it, he was licking up and down my pants leg yesterday while we were treating him. His rough start in life hasn't affected his temperament in the slightest. We've been calling him Little Prince...mostly because we figured "Little Man," or "Little Dude," was probably not the best barn name, haha. For the life of me, I can't remember what was decided for his show name, but I remember it's English equivalent was blessed shooting star. He just turned a month old the other day.

Aww! It is such a heartbreaking thing whenever a mother rejects her baby, but it is also a wonderful and life-changing experience for both you and the baby whenever it goes right! I really hope heβs pulls through the hip fracture, that is scary enough in itself!! I looked up his Grandsire and our foals share some bloodlines, at least on that side! Jajaβs dam, Ssinful, has Theegyptianprince in her blood as well =] Love the choice of name, he can always get called Prince later in life if his owners choose to not keep the βlittleβ lol. Are you from Texas? I noticed that the farm where Raquin did stand at was in Texas. Iβm curious because Iβm from Texas. But oh man, I think Jaja will make a fun little eventer or heck even my foxhunting horse, eventually, because even at 6 days old now, she is fearless to water and actually I think has a lot of fun out of jumping and running through and in and out of the mud puddle in their gate entrance lol. I left the gate open as I was leading Ssin into the paddock and I stopped to watch because Jaja would just make loop after loop around Ssin and I, jump over the puddle, out into the barn area, say hello to Daddy, and then spin around, jump back in and do it all over again hahaa. Sheβs going to be a tonnnnn of fun!! But I seriously think she may be my foxhunter and broodmare eventually XD

LOL, sounds like she's going to have a lot of fire when she gets older! That will make her perfect for the disciplines your interested in. Looks like Ssin is going to have her work cut out for her - especially since the new mothers usually try to follow the babies for the first few days. I always find this hilarious considering sometimes the whole scenario resembles a sports car being chased by the goodyear blimp. I think one of the most humorous memories I have is from the first foal I ever saw born on the farm, Abbie. She was a few weeks old, and her mother knew me quite well because I was in the stall every chance I got. Both mother and baby were in the paddock, and I went out to play with them. Her mother waited till I was right by Abbie, nickered at me and promptly walked off with a flick of her tail, as if to say, "Ok, she's your problem now. I'm going to go take a break."
So, in essence I guess I was deemed the babysitter, lol. You foxhunt? That sounds really neat, I've always wanted to try it at least once. That's pretty cool that our foals are related. Hehe, it's certain that the little guy won't be little for long! I'm going to school in Northeast Texas now, and have lived in the state for six years or so. The farm's also in the area. We ended up with Little Prince's mother through the 77 horse seizure that took place from Renazans Arabians two years ago. A lot of their foundation bloodstock was acquired from Kehilan Arabians - thus the ties to Raquin.

Ahh yes, I remember that seizure, I was going to try and see if I could adopt one at least, but by the time I got around to truly digging around it was already finished, same with the "quarter horse and paint horse" seizure that supposedly happened earlier this year, which I think was a bit of a sham since I never actually got to see these horses nor was "allowed" to go out there and look at them, which made me a little mad because there were at least 4 of us that were going to try and save as many as we could =/ But that's awesome! I live just a little ways from Greenville, so I'm not too far from you, as I imagine you're over in the Dallas area? Do you have pictures of Little Prince? I'd love to see what he looks like! =] And yeah, Ssin isn't a new Momma, as I think this is at least her third foal (out of since the time I've known her), but I believe she may have had a few more before since she's at least 16 years old now. She's a very good Momma so not a lot stresses her out, she seems to just roll by it naturally lol. I really hope Jaja will be like her in that sense. Oh yes, I hope she has quite a bit of fire! I believe she will because if she's anything like Ssin ( [link] ) or Rampage ( [link] ) she's bound to turn heads everywhere hehee Babysitting can be fun when its the type of little creature you actually WANT to babysit! XD And yep, I foxhunt and I event as well (though I haven't evented in 3 years since my older horse basically got retired from that and I'm now working my 4 year old to be my new eventer) Both are very veryyy fun! I really love the thrill and "never know what you're going to have happen" of foxhunting. I get to whip-in for Cloudline Hounds in Celeste whenever I have a mount for it lol. I was mounted most of the season and then my main hunter had some issues that asked for time off and so I brought my old man out of "retirement" and hunted him a few times lol, though I didn't get to finish out the season because it was just wayyyy too much cost in gas to drive there, borrow a trailer, go home, drive back with my horse to hunt, go home, return the trailer, and then go back home. Can you say SOMEONE NEEDS A TRAILER!?!? lol

Yeah, the seizure was interesting to say the least. I remember someone saying it was the first adoption event of its kind. Since the quality of the horses was so high, breeding rights were retained on most of the animals. This was mostly because a lot of the members of organizations such as the Pyramid Society and AHA were outraged at the thought of removing them from the breeding pool, bloodline wise. It also presented more of a challenge to the humane society, I think, because they had to make more of a distinction between people that genuinely intended to give the horses a good home and those that simply viewed them as walking dollar signs. It really pisses me off that anyone could ever starve and neglect their animals that way . I remember meeting Samurai Magic before he was adopted out (his name's Bay Magic DLM now, to my recollection), and he walked up and laid his cheek against my hand with a happy sigh that I was scratching him. I remember it broke my heart that even after being treated like he was, that he still loved people. We ended up with one of his daughters, as well. She's warmed up to people a lot more since we got her, but she has a long way to go.
See, I don't get that they wouldn't let ya'll go see the animals . I know that if I were going to adopt an animal, I'd want to schedule a visit with it in person. There's so much more to learn by doing it that way than just through a photo, and I wouldn't want to do it any other way, given how big of a commitment that would be .
Wow, both of Jaja's parents are stunning. She's going to be a stunner ! I know that Rampage carries a V on the end of his name, was he bred at Varian Arabians? I love Ssinful's coloration and she's got a very refined head. When the mare's had a few, they're so awesome and laid back . I love the veterans. Maidens can be sweet too, though, I've heard a few nightmare stories that always keep me on my toes.
I live a little bit east of Dallas, and commute to school these days. I pass through Greenville on an almost daily basis, ironically enough. I can't wait till they get done with the construction there, it's a pain. The farm is just a small ways off of my drive to school, so it's convenient for me to visit on my way back. I have some pics of Little Prince, though these were taken by the farm owner as I can't find the battery charger to my camera to use it. I keep hoping it will turn up, as I know as soon as I buy a replacement I'm going to find it *-_-. Here are the ones I've saved and added to my new photobucket: At one month of age ([link] ) and at one week ([link] ), ([link] ). The mare in the background is Ocie (and in her late thirties, amazingly ) She has no milk, but has appointed herself as momma, so we let her watch over him. He can't get up by himself (he can get his front end up, and that's about it), but he is able to stand and walk. So, we have to help him up for every feeding.
Yeah, it never has ceased to amaze me how foals, puppies, and kittens (actually, almost every other creature) has cute babies, and we got stuck with bald miniature aliens. Though, I have met some 2-10 yr olds I thought were adorable. A lot of my beef with babysitting kids today is that parents don't teach/discipline their kids and expect others to do it for them (sorry if I sound like an old lady here). I just get tired of the instances where I'm out and kids are running and screaming down the aisles or running between tables and poking me in the back in restaurants. Eh, I'm getting off topic.
That's pretty awesome . I'm trying to get back in to doing western pleasure myself and halter, but showing is expensive *sigh*. Yeah, gas is already killing me. We're trying to figure out to do about a trailer at the farm as the owner left hers with the mares she's having bred in Oregon to a Midnight Shadow V son. One of the volunteers has said he knows a friend who wouldn't mind leaving his 2-horse on the grounds, so we shall keep our fingers crossed - especially since one never knows when the unexpected need for one will arise (vet, etc.).

Thank you! And I do too! Rampage's bloodlines would be a great asset to the Anglo breed.
