Description Extract from Tailbone 2 -

A whimper came from a crate to Gold’s left. He turned, rattling his chains as he went, and attempted to locate the source of the sound – he could barely make out the hunched shape of a female creature, about the size of a chimp, rocking in her confinements, and he seemed to recognize her. He put his mouth to the door.

“Hey,” he whispered, his words echoing in the stillness. “Hey, it’s alright. Don’t cry.”

The hybrid creature turned to face him – her wide eyes glinted, wet in the lamplight, and a long, narrow face sniffed the air.

“It’ll be okay,” he said.

He raised one hand to the steel and pressed it towards her. “We are all going to be okay. The men are going to help us, they are going to find us a place to live.”

The creature, though comforted, seemed doubtful. She turned back on herself and Gold could see the wrinkled infant she held close to her chest. He chuckled.

“Don’t worry. They’ll find somewhere for him, too.”

A larger crate fidgeted behind them and Gold could hear the familiar growls of Black resonating in the gloom. Much like in the loading dock, their gazes inevitably met. Black still had a muzzle about his face but he couldn’t hide his yellow eyes. Gold’s bindings clanked when his hands shook.

“I’m not afraid of you.” He said quietly, though the tremble in his throat betrayed him. A long tail slid about the creature opposite and he growled again. All of the hybrids turned to see him, and all of them cowered.

This is Gold finally finished! Hooray! Though I'm open to feedback from people to improve it. It took a while with Uni work going on but I'm pretty happy so far. I finished Tailbone, my short story, on Wattpad, and this character is from the second one which recounts how the hybrids first found their liberation. You may already know the less friendly Black -

Gold is a coloured version of experiment 01 -

I would keep the strokes of your colors in larger, unified shapes of shade/colors instead of the layering effect. That's more for traditional oil painting feel. And have the shapes follow the form of the geometry to emphasize volume without layering strokes. Do more with less! (man I talk big but now my hands don't even remember how to do half the stuff themselves!)

Aww, poor guy. His concept is really neat though, nice to see some nicely done and not 'ohsopretty' demon/experiment/mutant concepts once a while. c:

thanks ^^ I was trying to make him still a little relatable, but I guess he would look pretty ugly.

I don't think he is ugly but he is simply not so 'perfect' as some people make their zombies/mutants etc. Which is good for an original concept c: You nailed it.

Love this character and love the extract How did you come up with the idea for these characters?

I was inspired by some true events, but mostly I wanted to make something ugly become beautiful. These guys are pretty icky to some people but I find that sort of endearing. Tailbone is largely based on the Hybrid Policy, which is a real thing, though many seem unaware of it. [link] .
I'm really glad you like him ^^

OMG OMG OMG !!! a bit i have not read!!! *sips tea while reading*

woo can't believe you finished Gold, only thing i can suggest sweets is to make the shadow on the wall behind him darker, looks like the the shadow on the floor stops when it meets the wall, even if its just a little shadow on the wall it needs to be there. Otherwise another great piece!! xxx
