Oh, yes! During the "Blackest Night" and "Brightest Day", practically every character of the DCU got a chance to wear a power ring... Some, even wore two or three!
When the Green Lanterns of Earth were forced to give up their green rings, they joined up as the "Crayola Cavalry"! Oh, yes! "Crayola Cavalry"... I didn't make that up!
John joined the Indigo Tribe and then became an Indigo Tribe/Black Lantern.... A compassionate zombie?

I never exactly learned how that worked out for him, seeing as he was not an empty sociopath to begin with, but his jungle uniform was the coolest indigo variant by far.
