I saw the newer one too, but not the old, long one.

I think it would take a lot of patience to watch the old one.

Aww, they're so lovely together! I loved the book...Austen is so witty. The mother in it just cracks me up. The movies are great, too (the super long one and the more recent one). Superb job!

You did a great job on the period costuming. The Regency era clothing is my absolute favorite. So elegant!

No, I know what you mean. If you're not particulaly thin, cinching above the waste like that leaves the fabric fluid to take any subtlty of the tummy, making some women look pregnant. On the other hand, for someone like me, where the smallest part of the body is just below the ribcage, it slenderizes better than a beautiful Celtic-style dress with the waist below the belly-button, more on the hips. I totally love those Arwen dresses. They just aren't flattering on me. The best kind of dress for me is one that cinches me right at the waist and then goes out evenly from there to camoflauge my large arms and huge thighs. A mermaid wedding dress would also look very bad on me, being well fitting all along the body because it wouldn't camoflauge my bulk.
I tell you, dressing is an art, and if what you like isn't in fashion, good luck finding something flattering!

The style of your picture perfectly fits the novel. It's looking like an authentic XIX century drawing from a poetry album...

Hmmm... Art Nouveau?( something flowing and linear, like the style in which the Elves are designed in Peter Jackson's LOTR films).
I believe you were right to "settle on this", because your picture is not too much realistic or modern. Makes me think of the historical period described in Tolstoy's "War and Peace".

Probably would have been about the same time too, though a little more after Napoleon than War and Peace. From what I recall of reading that book, Napoleon's actions in Europe was a current event.

Hahaha, yeah, she loves it though she can't seem to get me to share her love with Jane Austen. I suppose I just don't like the woman's style.

Hehe, I'm the opposite if I like a book I'll take my time but if I don't like it I usually just stop. I'm a slow reader all around though so if I don't like a book and try to read it any way I could be stuck for months. ^^
