"Rhianna"September, 27th 2008
Watercolor pencils, india ink, pen, pencil, compass, edited a little with ArtRage
This is my original character, Rhianna. She's one of the main characters from my story that I'm coming up with. She's Mornai's younger sister, she's 16 and he is 19. She has honey-brown eyes, freckles and brown hair.
Continuing with my art nouveau series, I think I'm going draw Mornai or Zanthai next. Oh yeah, and for this picture I tried to incorporate some flower symbolism to represent Rhianna's personality. So in it you'll find:
Amaryllis - dramatic
Baby's Breath - festivity
Yellow Carnation - cheerful
Freesia - spirited
Hibiscus - delicate beauty
Larkspur -beautiful spirit
Double Bouvardia - enthusiasm

I like how she's not "ideal" beauty, her nose and chin stick out a bit, but she's still beautiful. Gives her more character. It does have an Italian flavor to it, but there's nothing wrong with that!

Hehe, I didn't even notice the whole pizzeria thing until you mentioned it. I scrolled back up to see if it looked funny, but it doesn't.
There is so much I like about this piece. 1)The colors, 2) the design of the portrait and the way it is framed, 3) the jewelry, the hair, what you can see of her dress, and 4) the flowers you used to portray her personality. Speaking of which, where did you find a list of the meanings of flowers?

Aww, well thank you! I've been trying to get more colorful with my pieces. The other bits you mentioned I also edited a little on ArtRage like I made the jewelery shinier and also touched up a few little things here in there. But nothing really major.

Though there are a lot of different variations. Some people will say that a flower means one thing, and other sites will say different things. I think the only thing everyone agrees about is that red roses symbolize love.

They're enough of a background element that it doesn't really matter much, although I think they look different enough. They're pretty, anyway.
