Description
I was nervous after my battle with Clair. Since I was such a great dragon type trainer she said she wanted me to meet her grandfather and cousin. Her grandfather was the Dragon Elder in the Dragon Clan behind the gym in Blackthorn Cave. Her cousin was none other than Lance, the champion of Johto. He was one of the few Dragon masters and the champion.

We were in a room waiting for them on a couch. I had been Clair’s friends for awhile and she said I shouldn’t be nervous but I was and I didn’t know how to stop it. “(Name), just relax. Grandfather already likes you.”

“Wait. How?” I asked now not worrying about it and relaxing a bit.

“I told him about you. I mean after beating me five times you made quite an impression on him,” she said. “You even beat Karen’s expectation.” Karen was in the elite four and Clair’s girlfriend. I never really met her but Clair said she was a nice and wonderful woman.

I smiled. “That’s great,” I said. “But I don’t think I’m that great to surpass your girlfriend.”

“Well you know him. You’re a dragon trainer and she’s a dark type trainer,” she says. “He only cares about dragon types.”

“Yeah even more so because if a member of your family doesn’t have dragon types then you get kicked out of the family and no one can talk to you again,” I said. “It’s like you’re cursed.”

“Yeah I don’t like that about our family. I mean I want to talk to my youngest cousin but I can’t anymore since she was kicked out of the family,” she said.

I felt terrible since I knew her cousin and she was so sweet and missed her family as well but I’d give the letters from between them and both Clair and Lance wrote back to her but it was like one big delivery service. First it was Jade, the cousin, she would write to Lance and Clair and she’d give them to me. In return I’d give them to Clair for her and Lance. Then it was the same back backwards. This happened at least twice a month.

“Yeah but Jade’s a sweetheart still and always so optimistic,” I said.

“Yeah. You’re right,” she says. “I’m happy Professor Oak agreed to finish raising her.”

After that an older man and a younger man came in. The older man was hunched and had white hair and had golden eyes. The younger male had pinkish red hair and golden eyes. No doubt he was Lance. Lance was known for those golden eyes. Well more so him being a champion but he never shared his pictures in the media so most people knew the Knight (his last name due to my OC) family eyes.

“Grandfather. Lance,” Clair says getting up. She made me get up to see them. “This is (Name). (Name), this Lance and my grandfather.”

“It’s very nice to meet you,” I said.

“As you,” her grandfather said. “You can call me Alastair. I hear you’re a great dragon trainer.” He sat down and then we all sat down after him. Lance sat by him and Clair and I sat beside each other like before.

“Clair makes me out to be better than I am,” I said.

“(Name), you’ve defeated me five times in a row,” Clair said “And we were both using dragon types. Only Lance’s Dragon types can defeat mine.” Lance smiled and I blushed. Clair noticed my blushing and smiled at that.

“So then you’re dragon master worthy?” Alastair asks.

“I think so,” Clair says. “I think that (Name) should battle Lance soon to decide that.”

“Well then we should talk about that, (Name),” Lance says. He soon took my hand and lead me to a battle room.

“You want to battle now?” I asked.

“Yeah. Why not?” he asks. “It will prove yourself to my grandfather and it’s not an official league battle so you won’t be a Champion if you can win. That is if you do win.”

“Cocky huh?” I asked. “Not a good idea, Lance.”

After the battle I won. It was a head to head battle and I won by one move. It was intense and amazing. My pokémon and I tired our hardest and I’d never felt that alive in a battle before. It was an amazing battle to sum it up. After it was done an assistant took our pokéballs and went to healed them. The soon came back with them for us.

Alastair put his arm around Lance and I. He smiled and then said, “These two shall be married next week!” He soon left and I blushed.

“M-Married?” I asked.

“Yeah. It’s customary to marry the person who defeats you in front of the village elder. Which we did,” he says. “I always liked you (Name).”

“I always liked you too, Lance,” I said. “But how do you know me?”

“I’d see you with Jade,” he says. “You and her are such great friends and I’d see you with her and I stared at you from afar and you’re so sweet and kind.” I blushed even more. He came over and petted my cheek.

“I like this law,” I said and Lance smiled.

“As do I,” he says and leans down to plant a soft kiss on my lips. I guess not all customs are bad ones in the village of dragons. Some were great. After all I was going to marry my inspiration and crush.
