Description
We had finally gotten to Gerudo Valley. Though now we had a different task that I knew the Hero of Hyrule couldn’t do and that would be to get into Gerudo Town. Only women were allowed in there and Link was a man or a voe as they called them. Currently we were in the oasis near Gerudo Town. I say near but it was miles away.
This is one spot were voe were all around. There were some vai here but not many. There were some who ran the oasis, two guards who did patrol, some merchants selling some food and some just walking around. There were some voe. Mostly a group of merchants trying to get into Gerudo Town.
Link and I were taking a break under a tarp to eat some hydromelon. It tasted even better in this heat. I looked over to Link and he had some juice going down his chin. I couldn’t help but giggle. “Here, Link. Let me help you.” I said as I then cleaned his chin. I could feel him looking at me all awhile I did it. I backed off and I couldn’t help but think he was blushing a little. Or maybe it was just the heat.
“Thank you, (Name).” Link said. “The hydomelon is pretty sweet, isn’t it?” I smiled at him. He didn’t talk that much but he was trying for me since at the beginning I got mad that I didn’t know what he wanted when he just stared at me.
“It is. I’m glad we bought these.” I said. “So have you thought about how we will get you in Gerudo Town?” Link took a moment but then shook his head no. “Well I’m a vai so . . . I could go in there and possibly find you some clothes that would make you look like a vai. I mean Gerudo wear a scarf around their faces so we could use one of those to hide your face then you might be able to go as a flat chested vai.”
Link looked like he was thinking. “That sounds good but will you be safe alone on the trip there?” On the trip there I could be attacked by monsters, get in a sandstorm or anything really. Link was always worried about my safety although I was a skilled fighter. That’s why I was chosen to travel with Link.
I thought that he just didn’t like me getting hurt because of memories with Zelda. He didn’t have much of his memories from back then but they do pop up every so often. I remember one where I got hurt and he held me tightly. He was afraid and scared. I only knew that because he was shaking. He did call me Zelda as well. So she had to have gotten hurt at one point but I didn’t know how. He never talked about her. So I figured he thought he failed so he never wanted to talk about it. I mean he was her guard and if she got hurt then he would see it as he failed.
“I’ll be fine, Link.” I reassured him. “We haven’t seen any moblins or lizalfoz on the way here.” When I said that he looked like he was even more worried than before. I sighed softly, “Link, I promise. I’ll be just fine. I can fight.”
I knew he would worry even more since he couldn’t come since usually when there was something dangerous he made me wait in a safe spot but I would never listen and I would follow him to either learn from how he fights or to make sure he himself he didn’t get hurt. Plus he was pretty sexy when he was fighting. Odd thing to think I know but he was.
Link took one of the swords he had been using a lot, since he didn’t have the mastersword back just yet, and handed it to me. He then took my blade. “Mine is sharper. Just in case.” He said. “The trip is a day long, there and back. So you should go tomorrow.”
“It is getting late so that does sound like a good idea.” I said. “What should we do as we wait for supper? It’s weird to think I don’t have to cook.”
“I can cook.” Link said quietly. I giggled softly and he looked at me.
“Not very well. I’m sorry, Link, but you couldn’t survive on your own.” I said. “You tried to put that monster extract we use for potions as a condiment to add to the dish. It’s terrible on its own.” He pouted a little at that. “You’re learning but in the beginning you were really bad.”
“I was pretty bad.” He said softly and then smiled.
---
Night soon came and we stayed in a tent. We slept in the same one. Link got one side and I got the other. I was happy he actually agreed with me to get one. I didn’t want to risk the winds. Plus it was really cold at night out in the desert. Even in the tent it was cold.
I was alone right now in the tent. I turned the lantern on since it was dark now. I didn’t really know where Link went but I knew he wanted to be alone so I didn’t even try to follow because what if he had to go to the bathroom? That would be awkward.
I laid down and looked at the flame in the lantern. It was pretty quiet here too, in a way relaxing. I was almost asleep when the tent flap opened. I didn’t want to move or open eyes. I was too far almost asleep. I felt something warm on me. It felt really nice. I cuddled it and it felt like a blanket. Maybe fur. I saw a shadow of over my eyes and then Link’s grunt as he laid down.
I opened my eyes for a moment and saw he was laying down facing the lantern as well and had his eyes closed. He didn’t have a blanket on him but I did. I was right to think it was fur. It looked like a bear pelt. I knew he was selfless so he would give it to me. I wanted to lay next to him so we could share it. I went over to lay next to him to do so.
Link’s body was cold so I was happy I did. The one thing I knew I couldn’t do is cuddle him. I did that once prior and he didn’t like it at all. In his mind he can’t do anything he would like until Hyrule was safe. Besides he still loved Zelda or I was pretty sure he did. Hearing how he was with her a hundred years ago he had to have loved her. So I stood no chance and I accepted that but it didn’t mean it didn’t hurt.
---
The next morning I woke up before Link as always. So I could sneak out without him knowing about last night. Though I moved the blanket to see Link was holding my now hip but before I’m guessing was my side. I blushed softly and then left the tent.
I sighed softly and then went to get something to drink at the oasis. As I stretched I could see Vah Naboris in the distance. It looked like it had not gotten any closer but it was making a huge sandstorm or rather sand cloud. Vah Naboris was pretty glorious. It was so big and I bet strong. It had to be to be a Divine Beast.
“Morning.” I heard Link’s voice say. I looked over to him and saw him. He had some cute bed hair. He got a drink himself.
“Good morning, Link.” I smiled and fixed his hair when he was done. “Sleep well?” He nodded and looked up at me to ask me if I did as well. “Yeah I slept really well.” I usually did if I snuck over to sleep next to him because I always felt safe with Link being close to me.
He looked kind of sad. “We should get you ready to leave.” He said.
“I know you want to come with me but you can’t. I’ll be okay. Please trust me.” I asked and he sighed and nodded.
I went back to the tent to get my bag. Link filled my canteen and gave it back to me. “I think I’m ready to go.” I said when all was said and done.
Link petted my head. “Be safe. Please.”
“I will.” I blushed softly. His hand was so big and gentle. Now I really didn’t want to leave but I had to. It was only one day but Link looked like a lost puppy right now. Maybe he did get closer to me than I thought.
