I woke up on a beach. My first thought was why a beach and how did I get here. I started to look around and I saw footprints that went to where I was to the woods behind it. Someone else was here with me. Who? Did I know them? Maybe they knew how I . . . or rather we got here.

I saw in the cove there was a ship that crashed and bodies floating in the water. I was mortified to see that. Guess the other person and I were lucky to be alive. I made a prayer and then went to find this mysterious person.

The woods were dense and amazing the way the sunlight came in. There was wildlife everywhere. Exotic animals, plants, and trees. It was so colorful and beautiful unlike anything I’ve ever seen. With the scenery I had no idea where I was either. All I knew right now would be a deserted island. It would be good to get away from the city life for once. So instead of being depressing and scared I should treat this like a vacation.

My stomach growled and I stopped. I didn’t notice how hungry I was. It felt like my stomach was eating itself. Now I wish one of these trees had some food on them or bushes having berries. Out of no where something hit my head and I looked on the ground. An orange. It’s like my wish has been granted.

I looked up and saw a man. I couldn’t see him clearly since he was in front of the sun. I blocked my eyes to try and get a better look at him. I wondered if he was the one from the beach. “Hello?” I asked up at him and he looked down at me.

“Ahh, you’re awake now, Love,” he said and slid down. I watched him the entire way. I could now see he had blonde hair with dark roots and beautiful emerald eyes. “I thought you’d never wake up.”

“You know me?” I asked. “Who are you?”

“Arthur Kirkland but you can call me Captain Kirkland,” he said. “You were a slave I bought.”

“I most certainly not! Explain my clothes! There are like a princesses,” I said rather offended.

“Aye,” he said. “But I kidnapped you and took you as a slave. That better, Love?”

“No!” I said. “You’re really an asshole.”

“An asshole?” he asked and lifted my chin up to see his emerald eyes. “Now is that really a way to treat the man who saved you and has food?” I felt a small shiver go down my spine. “So won’t you be nice to me?” I smacked his hand and walked away. “Love, how will you get back to your kingdom? I know right where we are and you have no idea. There are murders, rapists, poisonous animals. The list goes on. You’ll surely die out there.”

I turned to him. “Fine. But you’ll treat me as a lady.”

“Fine. I agree,” he said. “But you better do as I say.”

“Seems reasonable,” I said.

“Aye, now follow me, fancy,” he said.

“I have a name. It’s (Name),” I said. “Arthur.”

“I said it’s Captain Kirkland to you, (Name),” he snapped.

“Fine, Captain Kirkland,” I said rolling my eyes. If this is how it would be, it would be a long time with ‘Captain Kirkland’. Hopefully I’d get back to my kingdom in one piece.
