Vectillion are silicon based quadrupedal beings from Vecta, which is near Famagon space. This planet is very cold and as such silicon based life thrives here. Vectillion eat both silicon based "meat" as well as getting energy from sunlight using various photosynthetic spots on their body's. Their skeletons are made of a metal alloy which is supplemented by the consumption of smaller organisms skeletons. This skeleton in combination with the slightly lower gravity of Vecta allows them to have a more sprawling posture despite weighing 15,000 pounds. They have a mostly radial body structure, aside from their mouth, which is shifted to one of their sides for easier access to low items. They cannot survive in oxygen atmospheres and require breath suit or the air will solidify their internal tissues into a glass-like substance.

Much of Vectilion architecture is made of layered stone with tough flexible metal strips used for bracing. This material is even used in their ships giving them tens of meters of thick armor. The weight of this material is offset by a powerful mass reducer, one of the strongest manufactured. The Vectilion are known to enslave other non space-fairing races, which they then use as slave labor to build their ships as well as mine resources. Despite having the capability of creating robots, they do not do so, believing them to heresy against life itself. The belief came about after an AI uprising nearly decimated their species before they became a space fairing race. As a result, the vast majority of their tech is controlled directly instead of using automation, handicapping their full potential.

There is a small sect that believes the opposite, thinking that automation is a better way and have attempted to live a life of seclusion in a small group of star systems. The main empire doesn't tolerate them and has attempted to eradicate them, but the sects industrial capabilities are much greater then that of the main empire. Because of this, they have successfully held back the main empire time and time again. The main empire believes it is their destined right to rule and will challenge other races who dare to intrude upon their domain. This doesn't stop various smugglers from attempting to transport slaves out, with an even split of freeing the slaves or just using them in more slavery.
