Description
Today is the day I fell in love...with IR. The Whitebalance is set, the exposure was just right, and PS CS3 is just so L337!It's not a recolour of Cherry Ice , It's a complete reshoot.
The Usual equipment. Nikon D50, Hoya R72, 18mm, 6 vertical frames merged in PS CS3.

Besides, is there a specific filter for specific camera models? Like for example my cam is Sony alpha, is there a special IR filter for my camera/lenses?

First off you need to check if your camera can actually pick up IR light. If it can, you need to check if it can take screw filters.

I think it can. I have seen someone who has Sony alpha A100 with loads of IR shots in his gallery somewhere here on DA. Care to recommend some filter brands?

You might need to find them and ask them how good the camera is with IR and if there have been any modifications to the camera. BTW, I use a Hoya R72 IR filter, but there are some other brands that make them. You'll probably have to do some research because it would suck if you went out and bought a filter to find it didn't work.

Also, how do you use R72 IR filters, i managed to get it working one with my 20D but since then i cant remember how i did it!

You have to get the whitebalance setup. I'm not sure how you'd do it on yours, but on mine I created a custom whitebalance. To do this, I had to put the filter ON, point it at a nice green patch of grass, and set it so that the camera measured the colour. On my camera it's called Preset mode.
You might need to look up a tutorial specifically for your camera.

File > Automate > Photomerge. I usually choose the mode that lets me shift around the pictures until they're just right

It's a lake visible from my bedroom window (until they build a house in the way). IR just seems to make it look heaps better though, because it removes the muddy look
