She is SUCH a Mary-Sue! >.< She is pretty, and royal, and has the Wit AND the Skill AND Foresight and somehow she has inherited Nightseye's ghost (?!)
Also, she has taken Fitz's place. Nobody takes Fitz's place! è.é

She just seems the upteenth Sue-Daughter of the main protagonist :\ there are a ton like her in fantasy, from Brooks to Dune. Meh. I expected something better from Robin Hobb.

I feel like you have somehow read a different book then I, but I guess we all interpret things a little differently. She's not by any means taking Fit'z place, Fitz is still very much important in this book the way I read it, and Bee is a good character, not like any other I have read about before. She's quite complex, and mysterious in many ways. I am very excited to read more about her. Is she a girl, or is she actually a boy? And how can that be? And what is the bond she share's with the fool? What exactely happened when she and The Fool touched?
So many questions. IMO, this book is one of the best Robin Hobb has written so far.

She is a girl ò.ò Definitively a girl. 

She has taken Fitz's places as the "other half" of the Fool. For six books, they were "one person in two bodies". Now, that is Bee's place. Also, for six books it was Fitz the "unexpected son". Now, surprise!, it is the new character *eyerolls*

I don't see her as hugely complex, actually. There is a lot of things that made me go WTF (for example, Nightseye's ghost that she can, apparently, see. HOW IN THE WORLD?! That shouldn't be possible!) but that seems to me more of your run-of-the-mill Mary Sue uberspeciality (as in "the Rule of the World Doesn't Apply to the Mary Sue") that honest good writing.

Yes, I do believe she is a girl also, but everyone seems to think she is the unsuspected son so I am leaving all possibilities open.

And we don't know yet that the prophecy is about her. There are so much we don't know yet that it's actually quite pointless to argue about what is possible and what is not! Besides, it is Hobb's universe and she makes the rules, and she is always full of surprises so I'm quite content to just wait and see what's in store for us.

Teehee, yes I suppose he does look a bit girly. But he is supposed to be quite young, like elleven or so?

Yes right, you make the point   I think he was eleven (I can't check right now, the book disappeared as soon as I finished it-I think my sister stole it XD) so I suppose it's right if he looks a bit girlish
