So I have finished all but the cover painting for the "Bottled" art book, and I did a dry run on the book layout yesterday. It's awfully close to finished now! So here's a teaser of one of the critters I've been holding back until now.There are a few illustrations that I will be holding exclusive for the book, but I do plan to make a teaser collage later!
Hope you like this little squirrel-like fellow, his colorful fur was inspired by some birds of paradise (and chipmunk stripes). Walking around with his personal rainbow you could almost miss out on the strange set of eyes.

i love how there is a part of the tail hanging on top of the bottle! And the colors! design! oh, so many things I love about these bottled series. You are seriously one of the talented and imaginative artist out there.

Great design. It reminds me of some of the Old World squirrels, like a mix between the Malayan Giant Squirrel (long tail) and the Prevost's Squirrel (the colors... minus the blues and greens). I want one! I see what you did with the Latin name, very nice touch.

There are some awesome squirrel species out there. Totally worth poking around Wikipedia and GIS for pictures.
Honestly, most Latin binomials play pretty fast and loose with the rules of the language anyway. You can get away with a lot (e.g. Bambiraptor and other such absurdities).

He is SO adorable! I love the hues of green and blue on his face and tail, the colours just work so beautifully. He looks so magical!

It's in the works - I'm shooting to have it finished by the end of September. ("Ready" as in "having gotten a good proof copy back.")
