Description As part of a booklet I'm building, I'm including the amazing winners to our Sony TRiK contest . Today, though, I realized I didn't have any hi-resolution images of the Sony TRiK that I could use to place the skins upon.

So I made my own.

It's not too fancy, but I think it turned out nice enough to pass for a real TRiK if you didn't know better.

Done in Photoshop at 17" wide, 300DPI.
Skin is the 2nd place winner of the contest.

I absolutely love the rendering of the dock and ther mesh, but for me the edges of the speaker circles (technical term there) seem the slightest bit under-defined. Just a little blurred at the edges. Apart from that the render is smooth and crisp - just how it should be

I wonder if that's a result of the way DA re-sizes images. The original image that $liquisoft created is probably larger than the one we see here.

It is. It's really quite humungous.

It has to be so big for printing purposes, right?

Yes, it covers an entire spread. Both pages are roughly 8" wide, meaning it's gotta be a 17" image.

Damn fine point. Definitely clearer the larger I view - psssht! And to think that for a second I thought that $liquisoft 's work could be anything less than perfect..

I have yet to see a work done by $liquisoft that wasn't of high quality or where he didn't strive for perfection.

I strive. I don't always make it there, but damn I try.

Neat.

So by entering/winning the contest the artist gives you the OK to use their art like this as well as for the booklet? Or did you have to get their permission specifically for this kind of thing?

Just curious.

TheRyanFord In reply to AJGlass [2010-12-22 02:43:32 +0000 UTC]

All the final artwork was requested from the winning entrants after the contest ended, and they know exactly what their artwork is being used for.
Just so you know, it's going into a compilation book to chronicle the past year's contests and the artwork that came out of them.

Very cool.

Is this book going to be available for sale?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

TheRyanFord In reply to AJGlass [2010-12-22 02:57:55 +0000 UTC]

No it isn't for sale.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

AJGlass In reply to TheRyanFord [2010-12-22 03:13:46 +0000 UTC]

Yet? Or ever?

If not for sales, then is it just going to be for archival purposes or to help promote DA's contests to other potential contest-sponsoring companies?

It's a promotional tool, so we can show off the kind of results we get from contests.
