Where's all of the radical revolutionary Che-shirt-wearing fuckers that plague DA? Isn't this the kind of thing that they would bitch about?
Nope. Looks like the sensible people are standing up for the good fight. Keep pushing.

The problem is America has become to Socialistic. Half the people with power are socialists(or more). What Nikolai Lenin said many years ago is happening right now. He said that Communists will slowly feed America with Socialism, then after awhile America will fall to Communism. I mean look at what is happening, they are releasing all these bills that take away freedoms. What happened to good ol' America.
The Bible says that in the end, there will be one government on earth, and that government is controlled by the Anti-Christ. The Bible was written a long time ago, and it predicted where we are heading now. I don't have to really debat about it, because time will prove this.
Peace out

I love it (not really) when people blame "The Government" for things like this when it's the corporations (and the money, power and influence) who are the driving force behind them. But as long as politicians can be bought and sold, problems like SOPA won't go away.
I'm against piracy, but SOPA and PIPA can bite me; utter stupidity.

CONGRESS WILL NOT SILENCE ME!!!
Freedom is freedom no strings attached. Thanks to Congress things in the US are becoming more and more chained.
This bill is one of many examples. They can not do this, if it does then what will happen? If this law passes then I bet in the future more laws like these will be made up.
What's next? Will it be illegal to be creative in any way? Or to speak out of what we believe is right?
I fear for my family and my future, reason being is because they are preparing to cut people's pay checks in order to "save" the economy. I do not wish for my life to be chained by these people.

The problem is government yes, but it is the people who put them in office. We need more people with character. Very few people in America today have character. Character elected Reagan, Teddy Roosevelt, and created the Constitution. I am praying for the day that we get our character back.

actually i think that blacking out like other websites is the perfect thing. it shows people a bit of what its like if their favorite websites are censored because of sopa, and to be honest--DA is one of the worst offenders when it comes to infringement and fanart and copyrighted works. you could very really be shut down.
also i dont mind that you don't want to 'black out' for the day, but what i dont get is why you seem to act completely neutral on this, making a stamp for all points of view (support, neutral, against) seems to be really--how should i put it--half-assed. take a stand one what the site believes and weather the law works for or against what you stand for.
also the media is not paying this law any attention because it is to their benefit, financially, to get the internet censored. we need large websites to draw attention to the law and encourage people to read it. not to make a couple stamps that say nothing on weather the staff agrees or disagrees with a law that could potentially ruin their jobs and business as well as freedom of expression...it sends the message (even more so than usual) that you don't give a fuck about this community and you could care less if it was completely purged of all life.
sorry if that wasnt the staff's meaning, but that's what it looks like, a half-assed attempt to be 'above' an argument and a way to sit back and watch their business burn because they don't care for it anymore

Heck, if you payed attention in History class (a good one), you would know that Democracy and Communism are the two extremes on the government charts. The Framers of the Constitution knew this, and worked out the closest thing to the "perfect median". Democracy means "the people rule", which means that the government will supply the people with what they want. This leads to mobocracy. You can tell from the name what this means. Communism is well, you know, awful. Our Founding Fathers created a system so complex, so that to keep Communsim out as long as possible thanks to the Checks and Balances system. Almost every member in our government would have to be Socialistic to get past that. However, the best defence to Communism is character. The America people do not have the character they used to. The American people elect people into office, and if the people are morally drained, then our governmen will be the same. Hopefully people learn this and push back the Socialists. Bring America back to her greatness!

Forget totalitarianism. We are so close to socialism/communism now, I won't be surprised if our "democracy" officially changes in a few years with all the unconstitutional bills (like this one) and already passed laws. On top of that, since this SOPA thing will affect the economy outside the US and we'll basically be reducing our exports and imports, wouldn't that also make us one step closer to socialism/communism? These idiots in the government now... no wonder people fear the end of the world in 2012.

If that is your opinion, it's your opinion. Simple.
"But you must remember, my fellow-citizens, that eternal vigilance by the people is the price of liberty, and that you must pay the price if you wish to secure the blessing. It behooves you, therefore, to be watchful in your States as well as in the Federal Government." -- Andrew Jackson, Farewell Address, March 4, 1837

What happened to the free country? I thought freedom was valued here?
I'm blacking out in roughly ten minutes. I don't believe in putting a censorship choke-hold on the Internet to catch online pirates; something so broad is only recklessly unconstitutional, and causes more problems than it solves.

The American people do not have the character they used to have. We have been living free for so long, we take all of our freedoms for granted. A very small part of the population votes, and you can imagine than many of them are most likely socialistic in view. The American people affect the government. The government power was mostly put into the states by the Founding Fathers. We are currently a Democracy, which isn't good. We were a republic, and that is essencially the closest thing to the "Perfect government". Now the Federal government controls all of the power, and are using a coercive system, which means they are forcing laws and prohibitions on the states, and the states are too afraid to fight back because their people are not strong enough in terms of character. Unless the people do something about it, America is screwed.

The true power of a common man in the USA, is the power to vote. If you protest this strongly, reflect those in your governments votes.
As a Canadian, I cannot effectively influence your country. But instead, I can only ask you to "Rock the Vote" [link] [link]

Everyone, SOPA has been temporarily shelved, so there's really no point in boycotting something, that (for the time being) isn't a threat. Should SOPA return, or even PIPA comes into play, I say, dA should join the cause. Any how that's not for me to decide of course, but SOPA will also impact dA adversely. Also, dA has to do business, so I can see why they might not want to black out.

Yeah, but dA doesn't want to blackout or risk business, which is understandable. Nothing much you can do, except voice your opinion to the politicians. Send them mail, etc. I doubt Google will go down that easily, but SOPA will surely severely impact them if passed.
