Yet he was brought back to life by the living shadow of the Abyss, returning to the living world as the undead Captain Dredge. Neutral Special - Cursed Howitzer
Dredge opens fire with his Howitzer, which fires explosive projectiles at a rate of 0.7s. The shots arc through the air and bounce off terrain and on the floor, exploding after a short duration or when they hit an enemy fighter. Dredge remains stationary whilst firing, and the angle of his shots can be changed by titling the control stick. He has a clip of nine shots, wherupon he needs to reload his weapon - doing so fires another projectile that does not travel as far, but does extra damage.
Side Special - Harpoon
Dredge fires a ghostly harpoon forwards. If the harpoon sticks in an enemy, it does damage and slows their movement and attack speed for a few seconds, but not to the same degree of a stopwatch or Witch Time. If the harpoon hits terrain, it remains stuck there, and will explode and do damage if an enemy goes near it. The harpoon is affected by gravity, and will drop down after travelling a certain distance.
Up Special - Shortcut
Dredge tears open a rift that he steps through, emerging from the other side. The direction Dredge appears in can be changed by tilting the control stick. Dredge's initial slash does damage and knocks foes back.
Down Special - Broadside
Dredge empowers his Howitzer, causing his next shot with it to fire three enhanced projectiles. These projectiles do not bounce, and will remain in place for 2s before exploding, or if they hit an opponent. This uses up three shots in his clip, however.
Final Smash - Kraken
"RELEASE THE KRAKEN!"
Dredge calls for an Abyssal Kraken, which emerges from a rift in a large area in front of him. The Kraken's tentacles lash in a circle around the area, creating a vortex that pulls enemy fighters in, before the rift closes explosively, dealing major damage and launching enemies. Although Kraken strikes in a wide area, opponents need to be in front of Dredge or close to that area to be drawn into the vortex

Palutena's Guidance:
PIT: Yikes! It's Pirates of the Caribbean! Someone find the Dead Man's Chest!
PALUTENA: Wrong pirate, Pit. That's Dredge, ruler of the eight oceans of Crosswind Hold.
PIT: But didn't that guy die? Last I heard, a dragon burnt up his ship!
VIRIDI: Yeah, messing with the Warders didn't work out for him. But hey, guess what? He got brought back as a revenant. Some people have all the luck!
PIT: I've been meaning to ask... what is the Abyss, anyway?
PALUTENA: The darkest depths of the Underworld, where even demons fear to tread... The closest one can come to it is the deepest part of the oceans. Some say it's alive, and plots to spread it's darkness around the world.
VIRIDI: I always thought it was just some creepy bedtime story your dad told you and Medusa!
PALUTENA: No, it's real enough. Pit, if you're going to fight Dredge... be careful. Who knows what powers the Abyss gave him to carry out his evil task?
PIT: Wait... is that gun of his alive? Does he have to feed it or something?
VIRIDI: What would you even feed a gun? "Hey, Squiddles, I brought some nice gunpowder for din-dins!"
PALUTENA: I think fighting the evil undead pirate is a bit more of a pressing matter, you two.
PIT: No, now I can't stop thinking about it! If it's alive, then it has to eat, right? And if it eats, does that mean it-?
VIRIDI: Okay, stopping that train of thought! Blech!

Stage: Marauder's Port
Marauder's Port is a classic "touring stage" in the vein of Wuhu Island, Delfino Plaza, Halberd etc. A floating platform takes the fighters to different locations around the map, each with their own unique features and hazards.
1. The Port. An Abyssal Kraken lurks in the waters, sometimes attacking fighters who get too close. Luring or launching enemy fighters into the tentacles can ensure a quick KO.
2. The Dark Portal. Ethereal energies of the Abyss emerge from this portal, affecting the surroundings. The position of platforms can change without warning, and some of them come with glowing Danger Zones that can KO an unwary fighter.
3. The Treasure Room. Coins and other priceless artefacts appear in this location. Similar to the Golden Plains stage, gathering 100 points worth of treasure turns the player into a Gold Fighter, with increased damage and launching power on top of Super Armor.
4. The Town. Dredge's cursed ship lurks in the background, with it's ghostly crew still manning it. Periodically, it fires cannonballs onto the stage, damaging fighters.
