I'm over halfway through 'The Book of Life' after racing through a re-read of the first two installments (since I'd read the first two when they were released but took a regrettably long time to obtain 'The Book of Life'). I am so absorbed.Β
Out of curiosity, I for the first time, I have sought out fanartΒ to see visuals of Diana and Matthew. Tragically, if Google is any indication, there isn't much,Β but of them, this lovely depiction comes the closest to my imaginings. Particularly your Matthew.Β
My brain has given Diana aΒ somewhat similar appearance to Holly Marie Combs (who plays Piper in 'Charmed') but I quite like your depiction apart from it neglecting the description that she has red hair.Β

That's an interesting question because I actually imagine them rather different from how they are described in the books! I am just now reading Shadow of Night (halfway through), but before he was properly described, I imagined Phillipe rather like Tywin Lancaster and now I can't stop it

So you see my choice is based more off the roles these actors previously played than their appearance

I too know he is a bit old but I could see John Hurt ( as [link] ) Phillipe, and Ysaheau is more difficult. Perhaps Zoe Saldana ( [link] )
