First encounter with these unusual hymenoptera was January 2133. Already in a struggle against another alien race first reaction to the newcomer was one of hostility. Despite the many initial skirmishes with these aliens, a steady peace has set in. These particular aliens are merely designated B.M.E.T.201. Bio Mechanical Extra Terrestrial with the 2 designating the second alien species encountered by humanity and the 1 designating the first friendly one encountered or Betwone for short. The Betwone are a hive based species radio telepathically linked, as such verbal communication, art, and writing do not exist. Thy are grouped into 5 castes. Drones, Workers/Miners, Breeders, Warriors, and Queens. Each one except the drone which lacks any intelligence of its own is independently sentient and self aware.

Drones are the bulk of the subterranean hive. Rarely living past 3 years its primary job is manual labor and is radio wave telepathically controlled by all upper castes either subconsciously or consciously, they posses no breeding organs, but have and excellent array of 6 basic senses, the 6th of which is electromagnetism.

The workers are all sterile males. Significantly larger than the drones standing at 3 meters tall they are the second most populous in the colony. Despite having the functioning sex organs necessary for reproduction not unlike that of humans albeit internally concealed like reptiles, they organs are essentially necrotic and non functioning. Posessing the playfulness of a puppy and the naivety of a 10 year old child but the academics of multitudes greater than any think machines that the humans can build, they are prone to trouble and are easily manipulated by both humans and the soldier class which for reasons unknown to both the Betwone and Humans shows greet hostility towards them. Their primary jobs include research, development, piloting vehicles, operating machinery, herding the drones in hive architectural constructions, and technological construction, ect. The first human to encounter this race encountered a wayward worker. The first thing the human did was illustrate it by hand then digitally composite (^see above^) since art was then something foreign to the race the worker took this with overwhelming pride at having such a perceived honor. Sudden sense companionship between the human and the newly formed Betwone hive led to an immediate conflict as the humans at the time were very xenophobic. The humans were forced to surrender under the superior power of the aliens and fled the planet with wild tales of a new threat to the human race. The worker lives roughly 100-150 years and show great enthusiasm in the presence of humans. They are indifferent between male and female humans and despite the knowledge of the danger show a child like disregard for the damage physical and or sexual contact can have.

The little known Warriors are much larger than their worker counterparts and for good reason. Their job is solely the defense of the queen and the hive. Standing upwards of 16 meters tall when fully erect, these female behemoths are a foe to be reckoned with. Like the male workers/miners. The female only warriors are sterile. What is most unusual about them are the massive energy weapons protruding from their heads and abdomens. This allows them to stand toe to toe against any planet runner.
They are dualpedal with the ability to walk on all fours or stand erect. Living upwards of 500 years and showing outright hostility towards humans.

The breeders resemble little more than earth slugs but unlike slugs they are immobile. Serving only to breed with the queen whenever genetic abnormalities appear in the current genetic stock. Breeders are always male and are always from a different hive than that which they reside. Their intelligence is very limited and thus a life deprived of all senses would not cause psychological
trauma to the long lived aliens(200-350 year).

Finally the queens. There are only one per hive and if that queen should prematurely die a worker willing or not is forced to metamorphosis into new female queen which has been observed to be excruciatingly painful. The queens intelligence is that of the whole hive. While not possessing the memories or skills of the hive she does possess the productiveness of each conscious. When a queen dies 89% of her memories and her complete personality are transferred into 2 newborns given birth at the queens death. One will stay to maintain the current hive while the other will venture out to start a new one. While her job is primarily laying eggs and mating she possess the ability to enter into combat with a ferocity and builtin firepower only matched by Human orbital weapon platforms. They control all of the hive radio telepathically and receive updates from every member of the hive at any moment. Living over 8000 years and possessing nigh immortality they show a neutral disposition towards humanity.

All Betwone appear biomechanical in physiology and physical contact can be dangerous. Their vehicles and machinery though products of technology all appear as if grown from the bodies of the aliens. Sexual contact with any of the aliens is high advised against as there is a 98% fatality rate as the aliens genetic data is transferred to the human either causing immediate destabilization of the entire genetic or forcing a metamorphosis into a human like one of them. But once again this is almost always fatal with only one known human having survived. While humans are carbon based the aliens are a combination of Nitrogen, Silicon, Carbon, and the newly discovered Anium which causes them to internally glow via Cherenkov radiation. They can survive comfortably in our atmosphere but not the other way around as high levels of arsenic, sulfur hexaflouride, and xenon makes it extremely toxic to humans. One of the primary courtesies when meeting one of the aliens is to draw a picture of them showing both an interest in giving just out of kindness and being on a loose schedule allowing for extended socialization and long term trade plans. Special devices are needed to convert the alien's radio telepathy into text as humans do not possess such organs to receive and transmit. The aliens on the other hand are very adept at learning human languages and do not require translators. All except the breeders have a strong array of six powerful sense.
