Thank you for the compliment. It was a pleasure to make a drawing of Nilla.

Thanks Sandie.
The face of Nilla and her expression struck me immediately when I saw the picture on DA. One of the great things of Da is that there is so much nice stuff available and the willingness of all to share it freely. Let´s make the whole world DA!

I love the hair. I wish I could draw hair properly in portraits. ><

Well...
drawing hair is one of my biggest challenges..never seem to gt it right, but luckily I see slow progess in the right direction. Hair nees a LOT of patience (yep and I do not have that enough...yet...)
An important development in my way of drawing is that I slowly discover that I often draw ´what I think I see´. I am changing that slowly to `draw what really is there`. I call it the change from ´drawing from the head´ to ´drawing from the heart´.
Often I am too much head...the need to improve is always there...

Yep. "Draw what you see, not what you know." That's like...the ultimate key/golden rule to realism. And I understand it; it's really really easy once you break down that mental wall. It's just that I don't have the patience for it some times. My portraits are alright, but I get so bored when I'm working on them!

Aha...
Yet, patience is one of the biggest virtues we often lack the most...
