It's a wonderful piece, you just need to work on your blending and keeping your whites as white as possible. Also, the lens flare looks like it was an area erased afterwards, rather than incorporated into the work.
The B&W version may have been better; this looks like coffee was spilled on it at 7 in the morning before a Calc test. Been there, done that and good luck.

Thanks for the tips! I've always had more trouble than I should with lens flares, and in this case I actually did have to do some erasing because I started filling in the reserved area without realizing it. My drawing pad is slightly cream colored rather than being pure white, so that might have had something to do with the coffee colored tint, along with the white areas not looking completely white.
As far as blending goes, I'd have to agree with you. It's just something I need to spend more time working on.

Odd, it may just be the photo, but there is a pretty substantial area next to the face and above/on the blade with a slight yellow/brown hue that doesn't match the creme of the paper.Β
You should use a whiter paper if possible, using a creme color results in lower contrast and a generally washed out looking image. If you don't already, make sure to keep something like a ruler between your hand and the paper to ensure you don't smear anything unnecessarily as well.Β Also, crop your image down so that it is more presentable.
You're still drawing with lines rather than shading areas, so I'm sure that once you switch the blending will be really impressive. I suggest following that up with looking into pencil hardness and paper roughness to find what suits your style best.
