Description PIRATES!!!!!!!!

I love ariel. I do i adore her. (hate eric. one of my least favorite princes but hey. everyone has their own tastes.) But Imaging if Erics ship wasn't so close to home. I mean in the original story he ended up miles away at what i remember to be a monastary. So what if he was so far in the ocean Ariel had to drag him to a island. She left before he woke up but would check on him. Until a ship came and took him away. Then there is the whole deal with usula. But since atlantis is SO FAR DOWN her tragectory for getting to air was off and she ends up coming up out of water in the middle of the ocean. coincidentally by a pirate ship. They had already taken hostage of Eric and he had asked to take him home and will pay handsomly. yadda yadda yadda. eric and ariel having awsome pirate adventures trying to get home. When they do Eric gets hypnotized by ursula. and the band of pirates help in the final battle to defeat her. happily ever after.

Still a very good drawing but I ask those feet are bleeding every time she takes a step, it suffers as in the original story?

Yes. though i don't think it would fit in the movie or re-writen sence. i like using my knowledge of certain fairytales and doing a call out to them.

Now that would have been cool. I actually love the Disney version a lot more than the original because I grew up on it--and the original version is flat out depressing.Β

Are Ariel's bandaged legs a reference to the original tale in which the Sea Witch warns the mermaid that having legs will hurt like knives going through them.

strongly so yes. I also wanted to draw her in a more dancing pose since in the story she was the most wonderful dancer. I love the original version to. it was so hard imagining this version because of how much i love it. It gets more difficult the more i go.

I'm kind of a sucker for happy endings, so a lot of times I find Andersen's fairytales to be the most depressing. To be honest, I was not happy when I first read the original story in fifth grade.(I had looked at another version of it--one meant for younger children to read in Kindergarten--but only looked at the pictures and was puzzled as to why the mermaid was with angels at the end.) Β It had pretty pictures--but unfortunately made both the mermaid and the princess the prince does end up marrying both blonde. So naturally since I like pretty pictures and kept looking at them before actually reading the story, I thought to myself when I saw the picture of the princess and the prince wed "Hey, this isn't so bad, the mermaid DOES marry the prince." However, there was another picture of the mermaid near the end of the ship about to jump off during a storm on the next page or so and I got confused. I was not happy reading that part.

So yeah, I'll admit it, this is one of the few fairytales where I prefer the Disney version over the original tale. A lot of times, I either love the darker original tales, or equally love both versions. (In the case of Beauty and the Beast, I love both the Disney version and the original ones.)
