Gorgeous work, a lovely illustration of one of my favorite stories.
I'm Abenaki and our legend is similar, the only difference is our bird is a crow and he only stole a piece of the sun (rather like a feather covered Prometheus).
Or maybe my grandfather simple got his facts crossed because it had been so long since he had a kid to tell the story to lol! That could have been the case.

i love the Haida version of this legend, I'm not sure how it differs from the Tlingit legend though. I know that the Nuu-cha-nulth and the kwak'wakw'wak (sorry if i spelled that last one wrong, i always do) also have Raven in their stories but I haven't been able to find out of they also have this legend. Anyway, i love the way you depict Raven here. Raven has always been my favourite character from the First Nations tales, though Mouse Woman has some good stories about her too.

came out wonderfully. that double light source adds depth while providing both warm and cool light. great work

I've loved this drawing since I first saw it several months ago.
The concept is excellent, the lighting is exceptionally well done, and the raven has a very mischievous look about it that I rather like. And, I must say that the dual lighting really did pay off.
I'm going to add this to my favorites. Nice job, and keep it up!

This is a truly amazing piece. I love folklore and try to paint stories into my artwork as well and heavily applaud this image, both for light use, composition, and theme. I like how the raven is placed low on the drawing and the stars swirl dream-like into the lantern, great concept. The way the main subject breaks the frame is also an excellent choice and creates a focus on your painting. Love the star work as well.

interesting..."Miss Rizz..MISS RIZZ! I gotta have that sparkly. I MUST HAVE THAT SPARKLY!"
"I don't have it anymore. I gave it away."
"Gave it AWAY? TO WHO! WHY!"
"I gave it to justin."
"Justin? JUSTIN? Who's Justin??"
"The leader of the rats."
~mumbles~ "The leader of the rats!"
