I was browsing through stock when I Saw the original, and It reminded me of one of those war torn towns you see on the history channel during world war 2..then I had an idea.. an old picture, torn, tattered, depicting something of the time.. not the most original idea, but an idea nonethelessbut I sat down with the original, but.. I figured there were a few things in the original that needed to be taken out
[link] as you can see.. people in bright yellow suitcoats and frigging cars do not belong in a ww2 poverty photo
so thats basically where the bulk of the work went..into removing this people and salvaging the photo.. the rest was just a bit of texturing, recoloring, retouching..In the end I hope It's convincing, I wanted it to look like a genuine photo.. Guess I hit that mark ~.~

Oh wow. You took out all those people and the car and still managed to keep it looking exactly like a real photo. I am thoroghly impressed, because I'm full-viewing and it still looks seamless. Really, all I can say is well done. You should be very happy with the outcome

There is something unremittingly bleak about this picture. It's beautiful, really, in that stripped out desolate shell kind of way that shots like this on the HC always are (I watch it too, you know), and it comes as no surprise to me that you've once again made a wonderous horror for us all to look upon. A much quieter, more subtle horror, but still a very real one. Looking at the original and this one it seems even more like a place that has quite simply had the humanity scorched, shot, or carted away from it.
Very genuine indeed. It looks like something out of my grandfather's scrapbook.
