Can't get enough of this Tengu! X'D

2023 EDIT: Indeed, nor this 2xA5 sized drawing, some crazy whim got me continuing this piece (4th June), mainly his face, adding some more skin hue and making black more black since now I have more coloured pencil colours, including ivory black!

So here's also, sharper, hopefully better image of it now, the colours are more right too, though the bg's just tatami. X'D

With a "new" phone camera that takes sharper pics.

I know It'd be good to probably re-draw this as whole, but I felt like I was not done with it, now I officially end my ties to this, and claim it done! :')

No one's to stop me from singing in my loudest voice to open tonight's wild feast

頻闇を受け入れていま独りここに立つ頭上で星は光る
Accepting the darkness, now alone here I stand, stars shining above

風は鳴き大地を揺らすもしこの身が朽ちても
The wind cries, trembling the earth, even if this body crumbled to dust

行くべき道はただひとつ光が射すその先まで
There's only one way forward, the light shines into eternity

何が見える？静寂の世界で

What do you see? In this silent world

取り戻した心は万象を知るだろう
A self-reflecting mind surely knows everything

癒せない痛みならより強く掴んで両の手に力を与える
If pains cannot be healed we should grip our hands more firmly
生きてきた証を一歩ずつ踏みしめて導を刻もう
Moving forward one step a time, and leave the proof of our existence in the future...

風の中で我は生きるいまこの血が枯れても
In the wind I live, even if this blood drained
行くべき場所はただひとつ雲を散らしその先まで
There's only one goal to move forward. Clouds dispersed, revealing the future

散リゆきたい者は我に許しを乞え
Fleeing deserters, must beg for my permission

風は鳴き大地を揺らすもしこの身が朽ちても
The wind cries, trembling the earth, even if my body crumbled to dust
行くべき道はただひとつ光が射すその先まで...
There's only one way forward, light shines into eternity
風の中で我は生きるいまこの血が枯れても
In the wind I live, even if this blood drained,

行くべき場所はただひとつ雲を散らしその先まで
There's only one goal, clouds dispersed, revealing the future
(I compared translations and made my own conclusion, trying to stay true to the original so it's different from the video. ^^)

Sung by Tomoaki Maeno, who's also his voice in the game, can't get over his handsome voice!! <3

Was especially inspired by the part featured in the title ('Fleeing deserters must beg for my permission'). Though overall it's a wonderful song/dance and I find the lyrics very fitting, though this part specifically suits the noble Tengu he is. XD Also, was slightly sad the dance had his regular outfit instead of that new skin and so the idea was born. Immediately wanted to draw that gorgeous skin as soon as I laid my eyes on it! Boy, I thought it would never get better from the Gold one, and yet here we are! My Temptress Ootengu got a fancy battle look! Ahum, this is one of those 'taking forever'-drawings, the notebook is the goat leather one from Enland and I just realised the pages aren't even A5 size, but 11cmx16cm (measured it) and yet this is such a comfortable and inspiring size to draw! Even though I didn't intend to fill the the whole spread with teeny teeny details, but it happened again... And the bedsheet on the background has come from the washing machine at least thrice while the work was was in progress. Just that slow I am. My 2019 art summary is going to look terrible at this rate...

No reference for the lighting, because I thought to practise night light on my own to have a little challenge. The face was one of the hardest, I've redone his eyes a gazilliion times. lol And it was hard to work on such a tiny area which is about the size of my finger print, you need extremely sharp coloured pencils for that, just telling...

yet another perspective practise, I think I'm starting to get the hang of this kind of version of worm eye perspective, but I'm hoping to try even more extreme and the bird's eye as well. Well, I kind of like this more than the previous: www.deviantart.com/thestarligh… , though it might be just that this skin is overall more detailed and I just love details. And don't ask me how the light effect on his right wing came, it just happened, I mean I've always wondered how people do that and now suddenly it appears in my work... yet I still don't know how to do it.

Used: pencils for sketching, Caran d'Ache coloured pencils, kneaded eraser and white gel pen (for his teeth and eyes because I messed things up. lol)
