Description

Oh Malcolm, such a romantic!  Soo I might have fudged my facts a little about the baroness title for the sake of giving Adelaide a cool name, but I did some research a while ago and I think it might be possible for a woman to inherit the title?  (Whether you can inherit a title while your parents are still alive is another question which we shall be conveniently overlooking... )

Malcolm would be such a Hans!  Except he would probably be a jerk the whole time and just think he was being really charming...

Shit, don't ask me about the peerage. I've been on the Regency reads mailing list for 13 years and I still don't know what the hell is going on

groups .yahoo.com/group/Regency <-- These ladies know everything about everything. They can tell you what button was popular during the ton of what year. It's quite ridiculous.

Haha that's great, I kind of love that there are people who are that interested in a time period

Yes, I know, I love it. I love material and micro histories. Unfortunately, I joined because I have never been able to find a Georgian community quite as knowledgeable - that's my period. Though I've weirdly drifted into fin de siecle, the last few years because of literary interests.

Mmm yes, it's fin de siecle for me!  It's such a fun time period to play around with (and the setting for a number of my favorite books/ movies, which is probably how I ended up liking it the best )  I'll have to admit though, my knowledge of Georgian era doesn't really extend past Mr. Darcy/ a vague idea of what clothes were in fashion

I think Darcy is Regency - which is a subdivision of the Georgian period which I am not particularly fond of, either. I love the Georgians! They were so fun. They seem to have had a lot in common, from a social psychological perspective, with Edwardians - whom I love. What authors do you read from that period? I'm quite keen on the Bloomsbury Group.

Oh mostly just the well-known stuff; I'm big on Sherlock Holmes of course with my thing for mysteries, and Picture of Dorian Gray is one of my very favs (idk if those quite count as Edwardian, but close enough I think.)  Do you have a favorite book in particular from the period?

The Secret Garden is definitely my favourite.  The later Sherlock Holmes stories are kinda trippy, it was crazy seeing those illustrations with woman with short hair looking like flappers!

Oh I forgot about Secret Garden!  I haven't read that in forever but I love the story, I may have to go back and revisit.

Greyshire is your universe remember! It only has to adhere to the rules that you set out for it and the Mystery Fiction Rules of Fair Play.

Does this attempted power grab provide the motive? Hmmmm, we shall see!

Loved it as ever, the dialogue is witty and concise

Haha true!  Though I do try to keep it the story more or less true to the rules of real world Edwardian England (that is, if Edwardian England was a much sillier place )

And thanks very much!  I'm glad you like the dialogue, that's something I work at quite a bit!
