Not so much the rose. More like leaving himself exposed while monologue-ing and expecting ALL of the 'good' guys to listen attentively.

"Good, that means he's flat-footed."
Everyone in my group thought like that....

I played a kobold wizard/sorceror for a while in 3.5-the cutest little thing ever, the party thought.Until he got fireball.
High-dex + improved initiative + the ability to be even smaller with reduce person meant lots of fights started to our advantage.

I used to play a warforged warmage. His name: The Warsmith.

Ah, I see where it comes from now...
Warmages are somewhat refreshing from typical arcane classes: simple uncomplicated force.

Yeah, I like my characters to be straightfoward. The rest of the group was melee heavy,so I was usually the only one who could actually hit a flying opponent.

This was more of a group of "all ringleaders, no ring."
Besides, we got our hands on the tome of battle. Warblades and Swordsages are some of the mose AWESOME CLASSES EVAR!!! I went for a warmage just to balance things out some....

Depends on the DM, I guess. For us, we'd get quite a lot of annoying mobile enemies (amazing though they may be normally, fighter types are just terrible against flyers). Don't get me started on abberations and other stat-draining crap >.>

Demons. We fought a lot of demons. And undead.... and abberations....

Demons and undead are still fine, but once you get to the stuff that drains stats on touch, require saves upon contact, phase in and out of reality, or the infamous rust monsters, you almost never want to play a melee class again...
I think our DM was just sadistic.
