It had been another typical day at the office, AKA the Kira headquarters, built especially for that purpose and homes to Amane Misa, Yagami Light and of course Ryuuzaki.

Ryuuzaki had just announced a twenty minute break about ten minutes ago now, while the rest of the team went into the other room to relax and have a coffee, Ryuuzaki had insisted that he stay, so naturally, Light had to stay too. He looked over at the pale teen crouched in his chair and bent towards the computer screen, which was slowly draining what colour his skin had gained from the chocolate muffin he had just consumed.

After a few minutes of, what he told himself to be only quiet observation, Light returned his attention to the pile of files in front of him. He sighed, picking up the top file of the pile on the Yotsubada company, the metallic rope clinking ominously, chaining him to the young detective. He stared unseeingly at it for a while before sighing again and leafing through the file to look for any consistensies with what he already knew. Nothing caught his attention.

"Is something troubling you, Light-kun?"

Light jumped slightly causing the chain handcuffing them together to rattle again.

"Why do you ask Ryuuzaki-san?"

Ryuuzaki stopped typing on the computer to swivel his chair and face Light.

"You sighed in succesion which is generally a sign of exasperation or boredom, hence the question."

Light looked Ryuuzaki in the eye and was caught up in his calculating gaze, however it did not prevent him from answering.

"Now you mention it Ryuuzaki, I was thinking about how my virtually infinate working hours are affecting my health."

The truth being the fact that the statement was only half of his train of thought at the most. Light also realised that he had made a basic mistake, the detective would surely use this simple statement to test him yet again, he would now have to pull his foot out of the peat bog he had foreseen, so to speak.

"Why so?"

Ryuuzaki asked enquiringly and he knew he had taken Light up on his mistake. He was using it to his advantage as only L could. Light knew he was stuck in a bit of a rut, a rut he had dug himself.

If he continued to complain about the workload, Ryuuzaki would conclude that his persistance and determination to catch Kira was not as strong as his, which was untrue and that little percentage of him being kira would jump up a few floors at that.

Whereas if he complained that he never had enough time for himself and his family, Ryuuzaki would almost definatly assume that he was Kira as he would have more time to be so and of course he would not be under his watchful eyes, which would mean that L's little percentage would no longer be little. That quite possibly was why he was being bombarded with work in the first place. He couldn't stay quiet either as that would mean he was hiding something and that would be devestating to his ego as it would also mean he had lost and he could never refuse L when he asked a question though he didn't know that himself.

Light, being Light, quickly ran through the options open to him but his annoyance at Ryuuzaki had clouded his judgement and he replied rather on impluse than intellect.

"Well, I never finish working seen as you insist I be chained to the almighty workaholic. I don't gain any personal time for myself or see my family and it's showing in my work! ..."

Light panted slightly after his little outburst before calming himself and then sighing yet again. Sleep deprivation had a lot to answer for in Light's opinion.

"I just don't feel as productive as I could be, that's all ..."

Ryuuzaki looked at Light with that piercing gaze, a bit miffed that Light had called him an 'Almightly workaholic', however true it was, was slowly calculating how much of what he had just said was true, despite the obvious emotional authenticity. Finally the pale detective's attention on him wavered and he cast his eyes back to his work. Light thought that, before he returned to his work, L's eyes had been lingering for more than the acceptable amount of time at his crotch.

"Be that as it may, Light-kun, we cannot lessen our pursuit for the truth. Kira would be all too happy if we were to become lazy and ineffective."

Ryuuzaki lightly emphasised the word 'Lazy' and Light silently fumed. He was far from lazy and the noise of the keys from Ryuuzaki's keyboard were getting on his last nerve.

"Also,"

The detectives voice sliced through his mental picture of hitting said detective over the head with said keyboard and returned him grudgingly into the real world.

"I shall not remove the handcuffs. We both know that there is still that small percentage that you might be Kira."

Ryuuzaki said it in such an off hand, commenting-on-the-weather type of voice even though he was accusing someone he considered to be his only friend of being a mass murderer (Yet again might I add) that Light finally snapped. Sleep deprivation seriously had a lot to answer for ...

You could almost see his eye twitching as he lunged and roughly latched onto the front of L's shirt, spinning his chair to face him, practically on his knees, reduced to half begging, (at best, because we all know that when your pride gets to a certain size you have a hard time getting it to bend.).

Light leaned closer, almost nose to nose with the shocked face of Ryuuzaki.

"What do I have to do to make you believe that I'm not Kira? How can make you trust me?"

He was stunned by Light's sudden attack, so he just stared into Light's dark pleading eyes. He licked his lips absent-mindedly as his gaze dropped to Light's mouth before quickly flicking back up to his eyes. When his tongue returned there was the usual sweetness and also the tell-tale taste of chocolate and L realised that he must have some chocolate caught in the corner of his mouth. Once again his tongue quested out to the chocolatey morsel, his eyes never leaving Lights, and tried to lick away the traces.

Light watched as Ryuuzaki's tongue had trouble reaching the chocolate smudge and before he had even thought of the repercussions of his actions, he moved his head the fraction closer needed and swiped his tongue slowly across the corner of the detectives mouth, his tongue lightly touching that of Ryuuzaki's for a split second before contact was lost, but Light didn't move away again and Ryuuzaki was feeling slightly embarressed and uncomfortable at their close proximity.

"Erm, Light-ku ..." The detective tried to say before Lights hot mouth lightly pressed against his slightly parted lips.

Ryuuzaki looked at Light, his eyes were closed, the expression of lust and slight confusion evident on the small part of his face that he could see. L froze up, he was surprised and more than a little frightened at Light's sudden show of affection, fortunately another emotion known as excitement outweighed the others, not that the feeling wasn't mutual it was just that he hadn't expected either of them to act upon such trivial things as physical attraction because in his eyes, work came first.

However before he could do anything Light was pulling away.

Slight panic gripped the pale detective which finally sparked his temporarily paralysed mind into action, fearful that he was blowing his first, and possibly his last, romantic encounter, with a guy and suspected mass murderer no less.

Just before Light's lips lost contact with his own, Ryuuzaki caught him by the back of his head and recaptured his lips, his heart beating ferociously in his chest, surprised at the thrill he gained from the kiss. He unfolded himself from his swivel office chair, stood and gently cupped Light's face in his hands as he let go of the front of his shirt and wrapped his arms around his thin waist.

It was Lights turn to be surprised as Ryuuzaki parted his lips slightly, almost in expectation and Light dipped the tip of his tongue into the warm, sweet cavern, sliding it against L's and tasting all of the sweet things he had eaten that day along with a hint of mint and a background taste that was pure Ryuuzaki.

Light walked him back roughly until they came to a bumping halt as Ryuuzaki came into quite violent contact with the desk, knocking over the flat screen computer monitor, which sparked and fizzed as it cracked and the electricity mingled with the overly sweet cup of tea it had fallen into and knocked over.

Ryuuzaki gasped lightly as his full body came into contact with Light's with a pressing need that didn't lessen until Ryuuzaki was forced to sit on top of the desk careful to avoid tea and glass, allowing Light to slip between his legs.

Ryuuzaki took the oppertunity to explore Light's mouth and he reveled in the experience of being dominant in a foreign situation, using the new tricks he had recently learnt from Light, earning a gasp of pleasure from him at how good L was at finding just the right spots on his tongue and also at how fast he had learnt.

Light slid his hand up and under L's light, white cotton T-shirt, the skin he found there was smooth, velvety and cool to the touch. With a bit of silent urging on Light's part, he managed to get Ryuuzaki to cease the carressing of his lower back and raise his arms, allowing him to slip off the shirt, breaking the kiss momentarily, causing Ryuuzaki to whine without conscious thought of doing so at the loss of contact before it came crashing back cutting off the quiet noise. The shirt tossed unceremoniously onto Light's abandoned chair.

Light broke the heated kiss to lavish his attention on Ryuuzaki's recently uncovered neckline and shoulders, leaving small marks in his wake, his eyes never leaving him. L let his head fall back and his eyes close as he let a quiet moan of pleasure escape him at the slight pain that was instantly soothed, that Light could feel vibrating through his chest, the desk squeaking slightly through misuse and the way L was gripping it.

The harsh sound of breaking china and a dry cough met both of their ears followed not long after by a dull thump.

Both boys snapped out of the dreamlike state they were in and looked around slowly to meet the gaze of almost all of the teams shocked faces. The pair continued their downwards gaze and were met by the feet of an unconscious Yagami-san, Light's father.

A blush rose quickly in both of their cheeks as Light helped Ryuuzaki down from the desk and buttoned up his shirt which L had undone along the course of their activity. Matsuda handed Ryuuzaki his shirt back whilst the others concentrated on dragging the unconscious form of Light's father onto a nearby couch.

Ryuuzaki and Light, with the help of Watari, had just finished cleaning up the broken china, spilt tea and cracked screen, through a sufficient lack of anything else to do for the present and also to avoid the awkward sidelong glances in their direction, seen as the tea had seeped into the computer system and therefore would not be operational until tomorrow, when Yagami-san came to.

"Chief? Are you alright? How are you feeling?"

Matsuda asked the question that everyone would enevitably ask someone when something undoubtably painful had just happened to them, even though they would obviously not be alright ... but in this instance Yagami-san appeared to be shaken but reletively fine and would recover, however Matsuda was an easy way of venting anger and that's exactly what Yagami-san proceeded to do.

"I just witnessed my son making out with the three greatest men in the Police world and those same three men practically riding him! How do you think I feel, Matsuda?!"

You could almost see the cogs whirring in Matsuda's mind as he tried to figure out how Ryuuzaki had become three people in the space of an hour, but when the light bulb finally lit, it was blinding. Both Light and L found it almost indecent at the way every emotion Matsuda felt was displayed on his face and they shook their heads, eyes downcast, in dissaproval.

Everybody backed away at this point confident that Yagami-san would be fine seen as he had already regained his temper and some colour in his cheeks. The pale detective looked sheepishly around before dragging Light back over to those accursed files at a respective distance from the other.

In the slight commotion that followed as everyone resumed their work after their break, Matsuda mentally counted how much money he had made from various people in accordance with what they had just inadvertantly witnessed. He had said all along, if not to their face, that they would get together. He quietly clapped his hands together gleefully when he realised that Misa now owed him a considerable sum, as she believed that her Light would never love anyone but her but he had the surveillance footage to prove it, so convincing her to pay should be quite easy.

He decided he might as well start collecting his winnings for a meal and his bus ride home so he leant closer to Mogi-san and whispered.

"Pay up. I told you Ryuuzaki was submissive."
