Wasn't this the sad truth.
Yes I know a lot of Star Trek fans like this movie and of course the critics who say that it 'reinvigorated' Star Trek.
Its not that I don't think Star Trek needed some changes in order to appeal to a new generation of movie goers and sci fi fans but it was done by making Star Trek generic and stupid in order to 'lower' to movie goers rather than making them 'rise' up and find out that not every story needs to depend on contrived writing, special effects, and sex gimmicks.
Instead it has become like every action flick out there, only considered more beloved because it uses the 'Star Trek' brand.

I thought it was okay, plus it gives me the "Zoe What's her name" to "Simon Pegg" link when I play the dvd game.
