i did it!
it was a lot of fun!
i used the architectural colors on the shirt and the window design on the sleeve. and some of her body shape comes from the door a bit.
Then i used the goats horns
and igave her a dress made of ferns.
any critiques on the design would be apreciated?Β

HOwdy! Thanks for doing this! I love what you've done to incorporate all of the elements. I think this is definitely a great start! As for critique, right now it looks like three very separate elements: horns from the goat, leaves on the leaf-skirt, and the architecture on the shirt. You can consider blending the elements more subtly. Perhaps just taking the silhouette of the architecture and applying it to the body type. or taking the shape of the fur elements on the goat and applying it to the shirt's shape. Blending things more and more will create a subtle design that carries the vibe of the elements without being too direct.
I hope that helps!

Heh, personally, I know I need to work on straight skill-building a long time before I should even start worrying about style. Still, this is good food for thought. And the exercise you gave at the end is fun and refreshing, though I think of it as more of a creative design exercise.
Β And it got me thinking -- why not apply the idea to other areas of design? Okay, so you've chosen this one item of clothing for x character... Why not draw on the design of that one thing to shape the character's personality? Or have it inform the character's culture? Maybe get ideas from the patterns in the cloth... to then apply to architecture... and so on. A very useful thought, considering all the worldbuilding I need to do for the story I'm writing.
Here is the sketch I made, drawing from the photos you gave.
Thank you!

I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart! All i've ever thought about (when i draw something) since i've graduated high school was how my art teacher constantly told me to find my own style, instead of just drawing what i saw from others. i never knew what he meant until now and i finally get it! Seven years later i finally understand! THANK YOU! <3
