Description As far as the Nelvana timeline is concerned, the Kingdom of Caring appears to've been founded near the tail-end of the 20th century, DiC is kind of timeless, but AiCaL and Welcome to Care-a-Lot actually make mention to previous generations of Care Bears, however vaguely. If I remember correctly, in AiCaL Grumpy Bear briefly brings up a grandparent in relation to a bumbleberry recipe, and in WtCaL the Kingdom of Caring evidently had a golden age of piracy and recognized precious metals as legal tender. Even more bizarrely, Tenderheart is the descendant of the Care Bear equivalent of Blackbeard. That got me thinking "how far back does the CBF go according to this universe?" Centuries at least. Were they around during the medieval period? I mean, if your reason for existing is to alleviate mankind's suffering and spread tolerance, you were pretty damn late to the party, stumbling into the room on the threshold of the 1980s of all places. All the hard stuff was done and over with. We really could've used a few fuzzy wuzzies talking some sense into those bloody barons and angry witch-burners.

What do you mean it'd be too depressing for the kids, seeing an episode where Cheer Bear's great-great-great-great-great-grandmother consoles the last-surviving member of a family ruthlessly struck down by the Black Death? Your point? The Plague was a thing, tell them to man up and deal with it. And show them another spider while you're at it.

Then I was struck with the sudden desire to draw 1700s horsedad rocking a ponytail and cloak. Can't forget the Rococo tummy symbol, all ye olde Care Beasts need an emblem such as that!

I'm just gonna keep this for the ranting essay alone, given that you had such good bullet points. Seriously, hats off.

You know, sometimes I don't think you're capable of drawing something that's NOT amazing looking. Then I realize, you probably have 30000000 scrapped doodles that you went "Eh" at like most of us.. And I'm still gobsmacked about how amazing this is. His tummy symbol is beautiful, the coloring is gorgeous, that bird is adorable, his clothing is fabulous... This whole thing is wonderful!

I, too, like to think that the Care Bears are FAR older than we realize.Β

As someone who grew up with the original two classics ("Land Without Feelings" and "Battle the Freeze Machine") followed by the two animated films and the first two animated series (DiC and Nelvana), it's hard to grasp continuity provided by the most recent media adaptations of the family.Β There were hints of the Family going back as far as Neanderthal times in the Nelvana series. And yet, a scary thought that Tenderheart's ancestor was a pirate. Arrrr, matey!Β Still, you combine the best of both worlds with Noble Heart taking on that classic character with your own wonderful art style. Β Is there nothing you can't do when it comes to this fantastic Care Bear artwork of Noble Heart being a beautiful, yet elegant horsedad? So much pastel colour, but it's not throwing up rainbows, either. That cloak is so perfect and elegant for him; love the star clasps, too. Dear Crispy, may you continue to be a source of amazement with your talents.

It's always interesting when they go into possible generations, but I'm always disappointed because it's always generations of Bears and never generations of Cousins.
