Description A highly amalgamated panspermic chimera, drawing on ceratopsian, sphenacodontid, rhynchocephalian, primate, and stomiiformid gene donors. What they would not give willingly, I TOOK BY FORCE.

Crude though it may be, I would like to dedicate this abomination to my dear friend

who has a birthday coming up in just a couple of days. I hope you like it, Rachel...I tried to make something that would go well with caek!

nice! Actually what media do you use to create this real shading effect. I mean it makes your creature looks REAL.

for meee?!1!\

I can just see it lopping it's way through the sequoia-like limbs of psuedosauropods like ratcheting secateurs.

Imma gonna make myself a red-velvet caek. I saw a picture of one and I just gotsa have it
Mind, as I type, the doco I am watching just described Kiviaq, which basically consists of fermented little auks preserved in a sealskin bag. Greenland Inuit consider it the best thing for birthdays and weddings.

4UUUUUUUUU!!!1!11!!

SECATEURS--D'OH, I didn't even realize there was a proper name for those things! Wouldn't they make awesome asymmetrical alien jaws??

Mmm, red velvet cake sounds delicious! Though I can't help but think of red velvet mites: [link]

Speaking of questionable food items, I think the fermented auks strike a new low for me. I'm just picturing a group of inebriated Inuit chanting "SWALLOW THE AUK! SWALLOW THE AUK!!" as their hapless pledge chugs lustily from the sealskin.

Kiviaq is supposed to taste like very strong cheese and you eat the whole bird, excepting the feathers.

Those mites are soo cute!
They remind me of the tiny little red mites that live at the high-tide mark here.

As for alien jaws, well the humble secateurs would be fantastic! The top jaw being merely a bar to pin prey items to as you bring to bear against them a gigantic blade like tooth!

The eyes have a creepy sort of intelligence. How thick is that lower jaw...limb...thing?

thomastapir In reply to bensen-daniel [2011-10-15 17:10:50 +0000 UTC]

By "thick," do you mean the height from top to bottom, or the actual width or "lateral thickness"? Although it's not obvious in profile, I pictured the jaw as semi-detached in the style of a loosejaw dragonfish ([link] ), if that helps... : /

I'm glad the gleam of intellect comes through in the eyes, it does have quite a bit of primate DNA in it! (And not just in its stomach)

I meant thick as in lateral thickness.

That is the coolest picture I have ever seen!

Yech! I definitely see all the influences. This is the type of creature that if I ever met in the wild I'd have seen enough and promptly go home.

Thanks, buddy! The "tool marks" are pretty obvious at higher resolution, but I think the thumb makes a nice first impression.

TOMMMMMM, this is so brilliant! Really impressive on every level .. this is, imho, print-ready.

Something that struck me about this - it looks like it could be a profile, but it also looks like it could be a 3/4 top-down view of an asymmetrical creature.

thomastapir In reply to whalewithlegs [2011-10-13 17:49:33 +0000 UTC]

D'aw, thanks Ben! I have to confess, there are a few too many stray lines and scratchy/patchy areas here for me to consider it "print-ready." But I surely appreciate the vote of confidence, it's a huge morale-booster!

I think I see what you mean about the 3/4 view...Creepiness.
And I have been meaning to do an Asymmeratops for a while now!
