Panspermic echinoderm/pterosaur chimera from a lower gravity mega-tidepool world at the periphery of the exclusively terrestrial seeding zone. These things use their sails to roll them along the surf like organic Strandbeests:

(Yes, I know the sails should be larger for this purpose--that's part of the reason I invoked the low-g conceit.)

Do you think those guys are just horsing around, or are they castaways who rafted in to shore on a Sailstar drifting, Velella/man o' war -style, with the ocean currents...?

Yeah, I know, crude sketch--I've had a rough time getting this one onto paper, but I wanted to give the idea some exposure. Will Scrap soon.
