Description An illustration of the battlecruiser HMS Nike from the Honor Harrington universe. This started out as a concept picture for me, and developed into a full fledged illustration with a ton of detail. This version is slightly unfaithful to the book in that it has a colorful paintjob, but that was an element I wanted to see on these ships.

Done in Illustrator CS 2.

I have been to the BuShips web page and have seen this picture and that of the Courageous class light cruiser as well as the three-D renderings for the Honorverse Online game (which obviously isn't going so well for itself as it was said it would be ready last year)

Oooh... I really really wish the Saganami Island minis were big enough to do this level of detail painting...

I'd say the paintjob looks good. Yes it's not quite canon, but the paintjob does nicely for showing what name the ship has, and whose ship it is. I would imagine one could tell Manticoran and Havenite ships apart by design philosophy alone, but I prefer to see something more showing which side the ship's on. It's probably just the Homeworld player in me, with the colors and badges.
