I am actually thinking of upgrading the hood, which could happen in the next couple of months. If I can get the project done, (I'm awful at following through on my ideas) I'll let you know. I certainly don't need multiples hanging around, so I might sell it to you then.

can you give any measurements? or maybe make a step by step tutorial or something? those on youtube are all like a normal hood but think the opening is too big of a normal hood to male an assassin hood

Hey, I don't have the hood pattern. Never used one because I just made it up as I went. I know that's terrible advice and not what you're looking for at all, but that's just how I work. Btw, your railroad anvil is fantastic!

Best of luck! Creating is such a deeply ingrained part of human nature I feel like it's best to dive into the experience as much as possible.

I love the heavy look of the hood and the technique you used to get that is interesting. Great job!

Draping for a three dimensional piece like a hood is pretty tough, so don't beat yourself up. I'd even like to redo mine. Focus on finding where the seams are on the in game hood. Check out kk-graphic's rendition [link] . What I did was make a pattern and then kept messing with it until it worked. Other than that I don't really have any amazing cure-all tips. If you come to a specific problem though I may be able to help. Let me know.

Very good pattern. Only the seam on the neck is not original like in the game. It took me much time to find out, how to make it like in the game. But good job. Looks much better than other hoodies. Go ahead!

Thorgaz In reply to KejaBlank [2012-01-16 20:02:18 +0000 UTC]
You've done a superb job yourself! How did you do it? My one concern with your design though is that it looks like it results in a crease along the neck where the fabric is more or less folded to compensate for being forced into a three dimensional shape. The seams on your rendition look quite nice.

If you wish, I can send you the pattern, I created. Was not easy to find out. I think, it depends a little bit on the head, how suitable it is.To a friend of mine ( the tall one in the photo "2x Altair")I had to do the pattern bigger and more unloading at the shoulders. The seam beads I had to fill with cords.
So if you wanted the pattern I can send u a photo to your emailadress. But just use it for yourself. It is no pattern you can send everyone.People can ask me, if they want it.

The aging is beautiful! I've sewn the whole outfit myself (I used a curtain-fabric, haha) and I'm looking to replace my mangled hood. Is the super-secret aging technique going to remain one?

Thorgaz In reply to FirefliesHaveADD [2011-02-21 23:20:32 +0000 UTC]
Thanks so much! I looked through your gallery, and was disappointed to see no pictures of the costume. You should put some up. To age, basically all you have to do is imagine what the costume has been through, and find a way to simulate that wear. Altair lives in dry dusty clime, so his clothes definitely don't stay white. Experiment with paints, dyes, mud, sandpaper, rasps and whatever else you can think of. Then it will cease to be a costume and become a set of clothes from the past.

Tutorial? I mean, If you're up to take it apart and make a template or something, and then show measurements, most people(and by that, I mean me) could make up the rest, as in texture and material.
The reason for this is that most professionally made Altair costumes don't even have HALF of what it takes to compare to this one when it comes to color and authenticity, although up close I don't like the look that the material has, but that can be easily be fixed. The ones on sale online look, how should I say... Well, lets just say that Altair probably didn't have much time to get his robes to look as sparkly clean(in 1191 A.D., by the way) as the ones on sale online.
On the other hand, yours looks vintage and authentic in color. The main reason for a tutorial is because I'd LOVE to have a hood of the sort on an actual hoodie, which I mean, would look pretty cool without looking too much out of the ordinary. That and also for those who want to make their own costume, that would also be great!
tl;dr It would be AWESOME if you made a tutorial, so that we could make this and put it onto normal hoodies/modify current hoods into looking like this one, or even making it for costume purposes.

Oh man, I'd love to do a tutorial. The thing stopping me right now is lack of time. If I ever to get time to take it apart and make a pattern and a few more I'll be sure to post it here first.
With that said, I really appreciate your enthusiasm! You have no idea how much it motivates me.

Wow, this is good enough to make me want to buy one! I imagine you aren't selling or anything, but you did a fantastic job. I'd like to see this kind of hood on a normal hooded sweatshirt, It's just a badass look!

Thanks so much!! I'm actually considering making some to sell. Just an idea now, but I'll let you know if it comes to fruition. It won't be too hard if I just took this one apart to use for a pattern.
haha! That'd be an awesome sweatshirt! I love hoodies, and that'd be quite a hoody.

Glad ya'll like it! Thanks for lettin' me know. As for selling it, I'm not willing to part with it. As for patterns, I had none. I did post some of the more frequently asked construction related questions up in the description. If you have any questions beyond that lemme know!
