ON THE RIGHT - Brendan Bonnibeau. Brendan is a kind-hearted, intelligent boy. He comes from a wealthy family, and his parents own a series of candy stores called "The Candy Kingdom". He considers Fionna one of his best pals, though he has a bit of a rivalry with her guitarist friend Marshall. He tutors Fionna in math, and after school he takes her to his parent's candy store, where they get free junk food. Fionna calls him Prince Gumball, or PG, because of his wealth and the fact that he loves gumballs so much, always having a bag of them on hand. Marshall calls him "dorkwad" and "Gumgum". He's sixteen and in the tenth grade.

MIDDLE - Fionna Hunt. Fionna is a cheerful, down-to-earth girl with a tendency to shout mathematical terms out at random. She's in the ninth grade, practices martial arts, and makes up fabulous stories about herself and her two best friends, Marshall Lee and Brendan, the latter of which she has a MAJOR crush on. She's bad at math, so Brendan tutors her every Tuesday. On the weekends, she helps Marshall record his songs, and they hang out. Fionna lives with her uncle, Samson Strong, and cat, Cake, in an apartment complex called "The Treehouse". She's fourteen.

ON THE LEFT - Marshall Lee Stevens. Marshall Lee is your typical rebellious teenage boy, with a bit of a mean streak and a love for pranks. He and Fionna are best friends, though he doesn't exactly approve of her romantic interest in PG. He teases her about it sometimes, and calls PG names, much to Fionna's dismay. Marshall used to live in Fionna's apartment, which is how they met. He now lives with his mother, though she's usually not around. She's a talent agent, and is often gone for long periods at a time, leaving him home alone. He's held a grudge against her ever since she ate his fries, which he wrote a song about. He's in tenth grade and sixteen, six months older than PG.
