Tried to clean the image up for Expose6, but get the distinct feeling it may have just pipped the line of "too far gone"..ANyways, i've changed the phoenix aesthetic a little, reduced the moon, changed the water and made the snake too bright..

owell back to the drawing board.

Anyways should the moon really have that bright purple surrounding it? Seems to disrupt the balance of the piece from where I see it, if it blended into the background a bit more, maybe with a green highlight instead of purple it'd flow better.
Your color choice is excellent as always and is a constant theme throughout all your works. And I love how it seems the same, but it's different every time. Very cool, I don't think I've ever actually seen you draw animals before, that's a new one for me, unless I've missed something.

Hum, well maybe I didn't have a backlight on my comp before, cus I did when I looked at it then. Or I'm just blind, cus that's a bit weird on my part.

Nevermind about the moon then. Now I have my backlight on, I see something that's kinda buggin me. It's the balance of the lighting on both sides of it. I know you said the snakes too bright but I think if you add a few highlights at the top right corner, or darkened the back part of the phoenix (which I don't really like, because I like the colors in his shadows) then there would be a better balance. Yeah I think that's right this time

I dunno, I wouldn't say "too far gone." I never got around to looking at the old version, and seeing both for the first time I think this one's a bit better. As has been mentioned, the colors flow a bit better in the original, but in my opinion the more sudden contrast between colors works well given the subject matter.
Speaking of which, do you think you'll ever do a walkthrough/tutorial for any of your paintings? You have a very unique style; I'd be interested in seeing how you work...

It was epic and beautiful as it was. I agree that you've made the snake a bit too bright, but it's still lovely and way beyond my talents. Good luck fixing it up the way you like, and doubly good luck with expose 6!

well, it's just a subtle thing that I noticed in passing... for example this pic with Her Kingdom and EC: Old Yama and The General... they all got some kind of arching form on the right and some wave form on the left... and the way the two forms connected...
Also, on Hybrid Realm, Song of the Great One, and The Overseer, there's always some kind of a mountain shape on the left with the main object/focus positioned on their right
It's the overall, big idea/shape/composition that caught my eyes when I looked at the thumbnails in your gallery.

I must say that you truly overworked it. I liked it being fluid at the left and smooth too soon transit to something as harder and more rough as the phoenix is...
Also you really gotten the color darker which more close the image in.. and less flow in it, ah, but it's a nice image anyway, no chance of just colorchange the first one a bit?

yea, thats tbeen an issue..but infact it has more contrast brighter colours...on the other hand not as smooth going..sometimes, some pieces just can't be adjusted for loosing the fine balance..Thanks. S4pphire

PS, don't suppose you have this in 1440x900? =] That is, if you wouldn't mind it being used as a desktop background. I'm pretty sure you set your sights a little higher than that for your artwork =]
