Reek. Reek. It rhymes with Meek.

Love your drawings! (: I really hope things work out for Theon.

Yes me too, though it doesn't look too good for him. If he dies I hope he gets a nice death at least *rolls on the floor crying*

Oh no the farm boy murderer is sad...

Great picture! I like the dapple coloring of the horse and the way the back ground looks misty with out of focus snow.

Thank you very much!

Theon's expression is so down trodden. Its expressed even in the background and the horse. Lovely work.

Poor sod. The way he holds himself, he can walk the rest of the way if this horse is startled and runs. Not that it looks likely to run.

He barely manages to not fall down as it is. If something would scare the horse he would indeed kiss the ground. He's lucky it all goes fine though. ^^

Does it even say so? It might, considering the state he's in. I don't recall. That was about the time I realised who the hell that POV was. I'm know I gasped very audibly (on a train full of people, no less) and I distinctly remember I quit reading (more than once in his POVs) because I was in a public place. I think I got it when there was something in that inner monologue about Ironborn helping him ... Some mention of that came twice, I believe, the first time it merely confused me, the second time I got it and nearly choked. Ah, it's all a bloody haze of mental pain.
I never had the heart to read Theon's chapters a second time round. I wanted to, but so far I couldn't bring myself to do so. And I'm not normally a wet about such things, I've read brutal books before. But that ... Oh, my poor Theon!

Don't forget the two farm boys Theon murdered in his blood game to win Winterfell. It was all just a game to Theon. Now it's real and he looses a few appendages to the Bastard of Bolton. Theon deserves the terrible things that are happening to him.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Servatia83 In reply to CountSantoGermain [2013-07-09 05:54:42 +0000 UTC]

He would have deserved a beheading. I wouldn't have said a word against that if it had happened, actually, I assumed it would and I thought well, that's what you get. But what's happening to him now is beyond what anyone can ever deserve, except someone who's dealing that out.
Theon was a stupid brat who tried to please the wrong person and went to a really dark place in doing so. And he isn't just losing happy appendages. He's being broken. There's a difference. Hell, I wouldn't even have picked such a fate for Joffrey, and I must say compared to him Theon is a lamb.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

CountSantoGermain In reply to Servatia83 [2013-07-09 22:35:14 +0000 UTC]

Theon is being broken? Oh like the farm boys must have felt when they were beheaded. Theon has stocked up a lot of bad karma and is paying for it. I hope G.R.R.M. has Ramsay flay and gut him alive when he catches Theon. However, I also hope that Ramsay gets burned to death by a dragon or Melisandre, or a white walker freezes his insides directly afterwards. Anyone one of those would be epic justice!

Well, I'm not saying he's a saint.
But anyway, I'm not getting into a moral discussion about the virtues and vices of a fictional character

Well, to quote the exact passage:
"Reek rode a broken-down stot, all skin and bone and ribs, and he rode her slowly for fear he might fall off. The other man had been a good rider, but Reek was uneasy on horseback. It had been so long."

Also he needed help to get on the horse to begin with.
I have reread the Theon chapters in book 5 several times, mostly for art reference, but also because I just can't stop reading as soon as I started a passage. It's like seeing a terrible accident and not being able to look away. It's horrible, and I feel so bad for him.

Well the one good thing about Jon's last POV was the letter, which means Ramsay hasn't got him and Jeyne so far.
I mean, I'm far from certain I want Theon to survive this whole mess, unless of course he is, like I am trying and failing to hypnotize myself into believing, Azor Ahai. The man is so broken, I'm not sure if dying isn't the best way out.

I've got to re-read his POVs now. Oh, right, breaking my heart all over again.

Hmm, I actually do think that if Ramsays dead, Theon could become "normal" again. He already shows signs of getting better during the Theon preview chapter for book 6. On the other hand he's still a cripple, I suppose, not to mention Stannis could put an end to Theon quite fast now.
I don't know either if I want him to survive the series (though him going back to Pyke with Asha is my imaginary happy end for him), but I really want him to live through something "nice" or "redeemable" before he dies at least and if it's only Bran forgiving him or something like that....but I'm hoping with you for Azor Ahai now.

One of the striking moment in the books: when Theon is apparently free, but his mind is... owned.

snarka In reply to Thrumugnyr [2013-03-19 12:37:34 +0000 UTC]

Theoretically... he could stay with the ironborn and die a heroic death. For bards to sing songs (as any true ironborn wants : ). Actually it is the same death he begged from the weirwood after half a year. As Theon Greyjoy, with a sword in hand. And even with a chance to meet his... oh well... owner... former owner, in battle. A very big chance, since Ramsay would definitely come for him!

But we all know... Reek couldn't do this. Not for him, not then, not there... :weep:

And it would spoil the only romantic scene between these two hearts, in the whole book! When he came back.

(BTW, I wanted to thank you for the RamReek picture it your tumbler! : )) It was fun! Though I like better your like here, but some fun great too! : )

Thrumugnyr In reply to snarka [2013-03-19 12:52:47 +0000 UTC]

Yes, true. At a later point he actually might have done that but at that point he really was too much Reek and too less Theon to even think about such a think.

Oh gawd, yes, that kiss. *___*'' Okay Theon probably almost pissed his pants but that scene always makes me think that Ramsay does have a certain sadistic affection for him~

Haha, ah that picture made me realize how hard it is to draw chibis. XD

> Okay Theon probably almost pissed his pants but that scene always makes me think that Ramsay does have a certain sadistic affection for him~

It is a very interesting scene, when feelings change very fast.

β€œAnd what do you want, my sweet Reek?” Ramsay murmured, as softly as a lover. His breath smelled of mulled wine and cloves, so sweet.

I see no pissing pants at this point. I don't even see any aversion from Theon, strange eh? When he describes Ramsay, it is always disgusting. But not now. The only time when Ramsay is felt as something positive: pleasant smells, pleasant touch. And even this question - it could be a trap from the start, or it could be Ramsay's sincere desire to reward his Reek... only he doesn't know how. And only after saying this aloud, it seems, Ramsay suddenly gets an idea, what reward would be really vital... to that prince, who fooled the ironborn so nicely. Freedom? And immediately a desire to do something good turns into a defensive stance. I know you want to leave me! But I won't let you. An I'll punish you even for such a treasonous thought!

And now all good things end. Theon immediately tenses...

"A cold knife scraped along his spine."

Now time to piss pants and search for a quick excape from the master's wrath. The briefest of moments is gone.

But it had been here : )) Or maybe not even a moment, and this is just a trap the Author lays for us... for some of us.

(Sorry for such a long writing!! )

Hmm yes. I think though that this has mostly to do with the conflict between "Reek" and Theon himself. Like, Reek would never even think of escaping but would only be out to please Ramsay, while Theon of course does think such things and gets scared of giving wrong answers.
