I'm no nature photographer (love to be) but Patience, Practice, Patience, Observance and Patience...You can't just go out and expect to get an animal doing something you like. You may go to a location 3 times and still not get a photo you like. I know, I was in Canada and went for walks all the time only once did I see Elk in doing something somewhat interesting. Luckily I had my telephoto lens that day.
