Description ...from a friend...

I have no clue how this works in other countries but I've seen this happen so often in Greece: the StreetCats are not left to die, but taken care of with tasty left overs or - in this case- something like dog food.
Although this is probably not be the best well balanced kitten meal ever, for this one it might make the difference between dying before adulthood or making it into a big strong cat.

i would take them all into my home if i could. but i buy the biggest, cheapest bag of cat food at the store and leave it out in little bowls at my front door. i feel terrible in the harsh winters though. what do they do when its 3 degrees out and 2 feet of snow??

It's a common habit in Italy too. The ones who regularly feed the stray cats in their neighborhood are called "gattari" by the rest of the population, often in a teasing way. Cities such as Rome and Trieste are quite famous for their strays, but you can find them almost everywhere as most of the time they're viewed as less of a problem than stray dogs.
In my town there's a rather large colony at the botanical garden. I always passed by on my way back from school, and there was always a wide array of plates and boxes of assorted cat food

Your cat pictures are really wonderful, you always manage to portray the character, not just a random fuzzball.

When I was in Kenya there were a lot of cats living in the hotel.
We were told that we should not feed them, when they're in the restaurant, but the hotel staff fed them every day outside.

It's nice to hear of people helping the strays, although that's certainly quite a bit of meat for a small kitten

Aww. It's nice that there's an effort to take care of them. It broke my heart to see stray dogs in Brazil and Mexico that were barely alive; skin-and-bones, and usually afflicted with either mange or fleas too. But the unfortunate truth is that in third-world countries, when there isn't even enough food for the people, how can there be enough for the animals? It's sad though.

Anyway, this is a really cute picture; it made me smile

So sweet. There used to be a lot of stray cats around here. I know there are some people that feed them. I would too, if I had the extra food to offer D:

There were a few cats at/around my high school, and one of the teachers started feeding them. Soon, there was a whole gang of cats living there! They were really cute, and my friends and I named a few of them.
Bonus: They also helped with the mice.

When I visited Italy two years ago there were people who set out food (usually pasta) for stray cats every night.

This cat's adorable.

If only people all over the world did this, its so heart breaking to think of innocent kittens dying, not having a chance in the world because they don't know how to fend for themselves.

I wish people were nicer to strays here as well. I actually fed a cat that I thought was a stray for almost a year before I found out it was my neighbor's, haha.

This is a gorgeous shot, though! I'd probably keep her if I found her (: She's a cutie.

Very Cute picture btw, makes you want to scoop the kitten up & take it home.
