My world began at the end. One day was all it took. One day.

I managed to surpress a sigh. It was boring sitting in a metal chair, listening to a ceremony, but metal chairs? Seriously?! Metal chairs!?

"Naiomi Wilcox." The young lady called at the stand.

I glanced at Naiomi, lowering my eyes. We were just complaining about the metal chairs, and now, she would have to choose.

My best friend had a light green dress on, and it trailed after her while going up to the stage. Naiomi stood beside the ceremony lady, who had four large glass balls infront of her.

Divergent, Dedicated, Demonic, Diligent. The four d's they called it.

I hoped Naiomi will pick the right one, because she decided my choice. That meant life ir death for me.

She didn't know which one would mean death for me, since I was not allowed to tell her.

Naiomi smiled at me, her green eyes matching her dress. She took the knife from the lady.

My heart began to pump faster.

Naiomi slit her wrist, and she winced in pain. The blood dripped slowly.

"Now you may choose." The lady said.

I knew Naiomi never decided, and she was scared now. To show the world she was undecided, like other people do, she quickly waved her wrist back and forth over the bowls.

The first drop of blood in a bowl was your decision. Just one drop.

The ceremony lady stared hard at the bowls.

The blood dropped.

And my smile dropped.

Naiomi picked Divergent.

I, was not going to pick.

This meant death.
